About The Impeachment Trial In The Senate.....

My understanding is that the House presents the facts to the Senate and Roberts presides as the judge.

Who defends Trump? Does he have WH lawyers put up his defense or his own personal lawyers?

Seeing that there is so much MSM activity around this Ukraine incident - and the televised hearings - there should be no surprises by the House Dems when they present their impeachment facts. Doesn't that allow for Trumps defense to be well versed and ready for them?

They should be well prepared - to refute anything that the House Dems throw at them. Also - the Senate Repugs should be well versed in this whole incident as well and they will have their talking points to circle the wagons around Trump.

I'm just wondering - how does this impeachment trial go down in the Senate?

Trump will be defended by a team of lawyers …..He will be prosecuted by House Members , so called Impeachment managers, appointed by Speaker Pelosi …...Trial Rules and duration will be controlled by McConnell ….. Which sucks

you are right that there will be no surprises. for that reason i believe they will know the results before the trial happens. that way republicans can control the show.

if the result is going to be removal, then the trial won't happen at all. as with nixon, they'll just quietly tell donnie that he'll lose the vote and he'll resign instead. he'll hate it but he won't stay president for another three days just to have a humiliating trial and followed by getting booted out of office. leaving with some parting gifts and a declaration of victory would be his only choice.

if the result is going to be not to remove, then democrats will be allowed to present their case, but then republicans will have a field day making a mockery out of justice, democrats, etc. they'll launch all kinds of catch-phrases and memes dismissing all the evidence and accusations and they'll insist that it was all a witch hunt.
