3. She did make a decision to wear it to the presser, and she knows the importance of visuals.

I think that may be why she chose the color red for the display.

15. Except about impeachment.

I’m the one who argued loudest and most forcefully in our Indivisible group for her to be Speaker again after the Dems flipped the House and there were a few other Speaker wannabes.

Now I feel like a fool. She could be twisting arms among the footdraggers to get more of the House Dems in lockstep. And yet she’s made herself the Lead Footdragger. She will not be regarded well by history if the House fails to impeach this criminal in OUR White House.

31. "She could be twisting arms among the footdraggers"

If Pelosi so much as says, in a closed door meeting, that Dems who have other problems with Dems should talk to each other first instead of just going on twitter, she's called a tyrant and "singling out women of color!!!!!!"... by Democrats.

But I'll bite- what exactly will the "armtwisting" accomplish? And what will impeachment accomplish in the way of getting the public to pressure McConnell into doing his job?

And yet she’s made herself the Lead Footdragger.

So if she's not being a 'tyrant' then she's being the "Lead Footdragger." And when impeachment doesn't magically solve any of the problems we have with this administration, then I can guess who will get blamed for that.

Got it.

If we don't get the Senate in 2020 because Dem Senators in Red States lose for voting with Dems to impeach, and we lose seats in Congress because Dems in swing districts lost because they voted with Dems to impeach - when impeachment would do NOTHING to shorten his term or stop him from tweeting or doing other things that only the courts could stop - then history will look unkindly on those who blew our chance to start reversing the damage he did....

Not only that - what if he loses it in response to impeachment hearings? He intiates a Reichstag Fire incident to get everyone focused on a common enemy? Or ramps up his hate speech to get his followers enraged, and there are more shootings?

For impeachment proceedings that only served as red meat to Democrats, and didn't convince a single Trump supporter to abandon him?

We need impeachment of Barr, and the creature, we need more forceful ACTION.

This thing about the jacket could be coincidental and a fashion person just took upon herself to make something of it.

20. There is an argument to make about the jacket color.

What first struck me about her color choices was the first time she won the Speaker’s gavel. That day, she wore a jacket of a kind of plum color. A mix of blue and red. I noticed that. And I remember wondering if she chose that color to symbolize a “let’s unite” message, wearing a blend of the two parties’ blue and red battle colors.

I also noted the bright red coat she wore to that first meeting with trump after the Dems took back the House. Remember that now-famous image of her leaving the White House with her sunglasses and a sly smile? I think she was telegraphing something there, too. Maybe a “hey red team leader, your ass is MINE” message?

Those cues do exist. Madeleine Albright wrote a book about her collection of brooches and the deliberate choices she made as to which pin to wear to which occasion or meeting or event. To subtly communicate or underscore an unspoken message.

23. There is a consultant who is used by many of the women in power on the Hill

who advises them on what sends a powerful message and what distracts from it.

Nina McLemore, a designer who dresses a lengthy list of influential leaders including senator Elizabeth Warren, former Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen, Hillary Clinton and Supreme Court justice Elena Kagan, says Pelosi – who is not a client – follows most of her rules for power dressing.

Those include: solid, bright colours (patterns are distracting); well-fitted pants (neither baggy nor snug); sleeves at or above the wrist bone (too long and “they make you look insignificant”); and high-quality fabrics (“men actually know more about the quality of fabric than women realise”). “She stands straight and she’s perfectly groomed,” McLemore says of Pelosi.

https://www.scmp.com/lifestyle/fashion-beauty/article/3012223/nancy-pelosi-fierce-fashion-icon-us-politics-whether-she

You can tell that Sarah Sanders Huckabee did not avail herself of Ms McLemore 's services.

And as for Sarah Slanders, I don’t know if even a color-coordinating “Dress for Success” strategist could help her.

First they’d have to figure out how to get that permanent frown off her face.

33. There is nothing to apologize, I don't get your reaction

What tells you that Pelosi's action was deliberate? That she actually decided to grab a yellow jacket to make a statement? Where is the proof? How do you know she just decided to wear a yellow jacket because, she likes it, because she felt like it, because it matched her other clothe? Just because someone made assumptions on her intentions doesn't make it so.

Too many words are coming from our leaders in the Democratic party and too little action that I can see.

Why should I apologize for my opinion? Why don't you apologize to me for asking me to apologize?

But focusing on the the jacket isn't what we should be doing...

So, I guess you can tell us how impeachment and all those manly FORCEFUL ACTION things you mention that SHE SHOULD BE DOING RIGHT NOW THIS VERY MINUTE INSTEAD is going to get public support and pressure on McConnell to bring those bills to the Senate floor?

Do tell. I mean, certainly you did have something to say other than simply taking any opportunity at all to rant about Madame Speaker, no matter how unrelated to the OP is to your specific complaints, yes?

34. No, you are 100% wrong on the assessment of my entry

I admire Pelosi for everything she has accomplished in her political career, I have applauded most of her actions during her tenure as Madame Speaker before and now, but I am frustrated, like many other Democrats, at her unwillingness to move into impeachment proceedings, the more time this takes the less effective it will be.

I want action and she has refused and delay the efforts to begin even the impeachment inquiry, maybe it is an strategy, I don't know that, but from what I read, and see it is frustrating to me the lack of action on impeachment and the lack of action in protecting the electoral process. I am disappointed about yesterday's results from NC when it looked like Democrats were going to gain ground in that state. Was it expected that republicans would cheat? of course it was, then what was done? I know this is at a state level, but Pelosi needs to put the efforts to protect the votes at a National level and I don't see that happening.

Attack me all you want, but the facts, at least from what we see as citizens is what I am pointing out.

And the yellow jacket? Let's pretend for a second that there was intent on her using the yellow jacket...How many republicans would understand it, be offended or even care about it? Is that such a huge message? Actions speak louder, what she said at the press conference spoke louder than a jacket, but impeachment should be the number one priority, imagine the damage this administration will do in 16 months. I predict trump will destroy the oval office before he leaves, he needs to be stopped now.

What? Is that her job now too? Since when? Did the DCCC cease to exist since last week?

Actions speak louder, what she said at the press conference spoke louder than a jacket, but impeachment should be the number one priority, imagine the damage this administration will do in 16 months.

Please do tell us what impeachment will prevent him from doing. Tweeting? Replacing crappy appointees with even crappier ones? Telling the weather service what to do? I'm interested in your answer, because no one else has been able to answer it for me. And can you tell me what will prevent him from going off the deep end if impeachment hearings are held? Reichstag Fire or military action that he thinks will distract the populace replicate 9/11 and get the country behind him? Ramp up his followers so more of them start opening fire at the border?

from what I read, and see it is frustrating to me the lack of action on impeachment and the lack of action in protecting the electoral process.

I guess if one doesn't want to see something, one won't... Or perhaps you're confusing Speaker Pelosi with Mitch McConnell:

House Democrats are keeping the pressure on Mitch McConnell over election security
The majority leader might be stonewalling bills in the Senate, but Democrats aren’t letting up.

House passes election security measure requiring cybersecurity safeguards, paper ballots

Pelosi: Congress will receive election security briefing in July

Pelosi knocks 'Moscow Mitch' for blocking gun, election interference bills

Democrats Turn Mueller Frustration Into Election Security Focus

Pelosi distributes memo on defending national security ahead of Mueller hearing
Ahead of former special counsel Robert Mueller's testimony to Congress on Wednesday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has distributed a 6-page memo to House Democrats telling them to "fight for our national security" by safeguarding the U.S. election process.

Pelosi Remarks at Election Security Week of Action Press Conference

Pelosi, Schumer speak about U.S. election security

U.S. Democrats push $1 billion bill for election security

House Dems’ Bill Includes Sweeping Reforms for Voting Access, Requirement for Presidential Candidates to Turn Over Tax Returns

I guess election security won't work unless there are impeachment hearings?

No answer?

I mean you got in a shiv in on the House leader, but no real answer to how your demands would address the topic of the OP, which is that she's bringing a leader who is not doing his job to the attention of the public.

Most who care about such things would be attacking McConnell, not Democratic leaders.

38. OMG - Seriously? You see Mitch McConnell and Trump supporters in a way better light

than Speaker Pelosi. You think that she simply refuses to do her job that could maybe somehow prevent Trump from doing all these bad things, for some unstated reason, but McConnell and the GOP citizens that have defended all his actions, and called any news about his criminal activities "FAKE NEWS" thus far will find that their hearts have grown three sizes, once they see Nadler question people. You know, just like Mueller's testimony totallly convinced them that Trump obstructed justice....

He will begin doing his job because the pressure will also get to him.

Hello, his job is to keep Trump in as long as possible to load the courts. Public pressure is 88% of Republicans giving Trump a favorable rating - why do you think he's not out there opposing impeachment? It's a dream come true for incumbent Senators to vote against the Dems to keep Trump in office. He got his wife a job in the administration.

In what universe does McConnell decide to throw away his and his wife's career?

Any response to being shown wrong about Pelosi's "lack of action" on Election Security? Or why elections in NC are suddenly her responsibility? "Thank you" would be the expected response.

40. Seriously? Where do I give that impression (You see Mitch McConnell and Trump supporters in a way.)?

Yes, pressure does make these people do things, as they see their structure crumble they will try to save it. That is actually what republicans did during Nixon, I do understand that this generation of republicans is worst, their patriotism is almost zero, but they will want to appear working for the country and thus will be forced to adjust.

Chow just needs to step down, they are filthy rich and all she was going to do to help her family's business has been done, they are not going to loose and I am sure they will know when its time to get out. How would he jeopardize his and his wife's business?

Man, the supposed meaning/intention of a yellow jacket has rattled a lot of people.

I never said the NC election is/was Pelosi's responsibility, read...I said it is at a State level, but she, being the leader of the Democratic party, I find she is responsible for alerting, for moving the right pieces to safeguard democratic elections knowing how much cheating republicans have committed in the past and are gearing up to do in 2020. Anyone who did not expect cheating in NC, when the reason for special elections was due to cheating is naive.

43. OK, let's unpack this.

Yes, pressure does make these people do things, as they see their structure crumble they will try to save it.

What "structure?" You actually think that republicans in Red States will watch Democrats hold hearings and say, "You know what? Those Democrats were right all along about Trump!! My GOD, why did I ever think that they were lying about him? I was wrong about Kavanaugh, too! Watching IMPEACHMENT hearings showed me a COMPLETELY different side of Trump that I NEVER SAW. Well, I'm going to demand that Mitch stop whatever he's doing to get those pro-choice judges installed RIGHT NOW and demand that he get rid of Teflon Don right now!!! How could I have been so BLIND!!" You seem to have forgotten about how these Trump supporters responded to the allegations against Kavanaugh revealed in hearings. Maybe you missed their reaction to the Mueller hearings? They are still convinced that Trump was "exonerated" from obstruction, because Barr said so...

she, being the leader of the Democratic party, I find she is responsible for alerting, for moving the right pieces to safeguard democratic elections knowing how much cheating republicans have committed in the past and are gearing up to do in 2020.

Um.... I guess you missed/skipped this part of my post where I pointed out all the times that she has. Here it is again:

The response should be, as you think Trump supporters are completely capable of: "Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I can see now that I was wrong, and was aiming my anger at the wrong person/party."

32. That's the way I've always read her. Timid women

don't rise to the highest position ever held by a woman in this country, especially when over 200 male colleagues had to believe she was the best choice they had for their leader.

People who don't understand that are truly clueless, bless their hearts. People who pretend not to, dishonest.
