romance: Britain's real-life Romeo has put a rose by his wife's bedside every day for 60 years



Every now and then devoted husbands make an extra special effort to bring a little romance to their marriages.

But wives across the country may well be pointing to Tom Shovelton today and telling their husbands they are simply not doing enough.

For Mr Shovelton, who is a sprightly 87, has put a fresh rose at his wife's bedside every single day of the 60 years they have been married.


And if that supremely romantic gesture wasn't enough to shame most husbands in Britain, there is more.

For every morning he also kisses his 83-year-old wife Joan and every night he ensures she goes to sleep with another kiss.

I don't believe in coincidences. I'm sure others have done this or things like it, but when Rmoney said it last night it didn't ring personal to him. So I wonder?

It's a beautiful anecdote Snopes says is completely true. I have nothing against sweet, but I wouldn't put it past Mitt to simply appropriate a story about humans acting as though they care about each other to seem more -- or at all -- sensitive.
