The Trump Wall scandal
A Single Scandal Sums Up All of Trump’s Failures
This makes new Washington Post reporting about President Donald Trump’s border wall especially valuable. The Post writes about how Trump has repeatedly pressured the Army Corps of Engineers and the Department of Homeland Security to award a contract for building a wall at the southern U.S. border to a North Dakota company headed by a leading Republican donor. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2019/05/trump-border-wall-contractor/590242/ As uninformed Trump supporters fume about illegal aliens taking jobs and tax-dollars from their pockets, WHAT IS REALLY FLOWING OVER THE MEXICAN BORDER, RIGHT UP HIGHWAYS THIS WALL WILL NOT BLOCK? $976M of border wall contracts awarded At the end of March, the Pentagon transferred $1 billion from the Department of Defense’s counter-drug budget to the Corps to support the construction of 57 miles of 18-foot-tall pedestrian fencing, road improvements and lighting upgrades. Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said at the time that the money would be used to beef up security at known drug-smuggling corridors, The Hill reported. The president, by using the national emergency declaration, could secure as much as $8 billion for border wall construction — $1.4 billion through the spending bill approved in February, $2.5 billion from the DOD’s counter-narcotics funds, $601 million from the Treasury Forfeiture Fund and $3.6 billion earmarked for military construction. Here are the companies poised to profit from the Trump border wall
The new 55 miles of barriers in Hidalgo and Starr counties likely will get built by companies with previous experience in this type of work, and these companies range from a privately held Texas firm to publicly traded Israeli contractors, according to experts. The firms have a history of giving money mostly to Republican politicians. Meanwhile, Barnard Construction founder Tim Barnard contributed about $82,000 to individual Republican candidates’ committees or groups tied to the GOP during the last cycle, according to FEC filings. He also gave $6,000 to three trade groups’ political action committees. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/here-are-the-companies-poised-to-profit-from-the-trump-border-wall-2019-02-22

5. So an Israeli contractor is going to get taxpayer money to build Trump's ego-wall.
I guess this is part of "America First" that's outside the bubble. When you're both an American president and King of Israel, I guess that makes Israel part of the U.S.

11. I keep telling you people Pelosi is correct:
Like other experienced Democrats on the Hill, Speaker Pelosi realizes that it takes a TWO-THIRDS majority in a GOP controlled senate to impeach a president.
In several news articles, Republican senators have clearly stated that they will not impeach Trump! Including the special elections in Arizona and Georgia, Republicans will be defending 23 seats in 2020, while the Democratic Party will be defending 12 seats. Now, Democrats should be preparing - at a grass-roots level - to unseat these GOP Senators. Then, we can impeach and hopefully prosecute Trump to the full extent of the law. |

12. Sorry, don't agree.
We look weak and ineffective by not doing anything.. When the Senate takes the case, Republicans will look weak and ineffective by not doing anything..
The man is a criminal. The only remedy is impeachment. Democrats must have the courage to do this. |

13. Think about what Orange-Mouth will say, after impeachment fails.
I appreciate your reply, which led to a mystery...
Does any reader know why this change in the US Federal Government took place: According to the 2019 floor schedules each chamber released at the end of 2018, both chambers were scheduled to be in session for fewer days in 2019 than they were in 2018. The Senate was scheduled to meet for 168 days, versus the 186 days it met in 2018, and the House of Representatives was scheduled to meet for 130 days, versus the 171 days it met in 2018.[1][2] From 2001 to 2018, the Senate spent an average of 165 days in session each year, and the House spent an average of 140 days in session. Also, neither the House nor Senate met during the month of August. Here's the schedule for next month: Week 1 Senate: Not in session House: Not in session Week 2 Senate: September 9-13 House: September 9-12 Week 3 Senate: September 16-20 House: September 17-20 Week 4 Senate: September 23-27 House: September 23-27 https://ballotpedia.org/116th_Congress_legislative_calendar |

15. You need to get up to date Mountain Granny; read this:
The House has already opened an impeachment investigation against Trump
Forget the political optics. As a matter of law, the Judiciary Committee’s actions are clear. July 26, 2019 Has the House of Representatives opened an impeachment inquiry? That question is starkly presented by a petition that the House Judiciary Committee filed in federal court on Friday. It is also answered by that petition. No matter what certain House Democratic leaders might say about the politics of the matter, there can now be no doubt that the committee is engaged in an investigation of whether to impeach President Trump. https://beta.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2019/07/26/house-has-already-opened-impeachment-proceedings-against-trump/ |
