Traveler: Bedbugs devoured me at Trump resort

“Don’t let the bed bugs bite” will never sound the same for business traveler Eric Linder after his March stay at Trump National Doral Miami resort.

Linder is suing presidential candidate Donald Trump’s resort, claiming he was attacked by voracious bed bugs during his night in one of the property’s fancy Jack Nicklaus-themed villas.

And, according to the Linder, the insects left dozens of swollen welts on his face, neck, arms and back and made him weary of staying in hotels, even 5-star ones like Trump’s Doral.

“I was deceived by Trump’s image,” Linder said. “It’s a 5-star resort where this shouldn’t happen. It was really traumatic.

“Trust me when I tell you it is horrible to wake up in the morning and understand that bugs were crawling all over you all night. It’s a nightmare.”

Linder, 63, of New Jersey, works for an insurance company he declined to name. He said he was at the resort for a pension-plan convention when he decided to extend his time on the property for a short vacation.

They have been written up on various health standard violations, such as the wrong temperatures in their coolers...food spoilage, bugs, etc. I know of at least two that were published since he became a so-called president.

Hillary wrote that there were cockroaches when she stayed there.

especially South & SE Asia countries. Such as India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Malaysia etc,
if you do not like bed bugs.

Good news is those bugs don't drink much and I grew up with them and do not ever remember the bite getting infected such as happens with fly & mosquito bites. May be it is because the bedbugs are not exposed to external bugs. They live in your house!

A consultant for the Trump Organization told Miami-Dade County tax officials in late 2018 that the resort was 'severely underperforming' when compared with comparable hotel properties in South Florida, thanks to Trump himself. ... the pools at Trump resorts in Florida have been cited for poor water quality and other health and safety violations far more frequently than other resorts. Florida Department of Health inspectors actually shut down pools at Trump properties at least 10 times in the last year, state records show, while other luxury properties had mostly pristine pools ... As of July 22, there were zero inspection records on file for the Doral’s jacuzzis, plunge pools, and family pools, according to Florida state health department records ...

(really hundreds) and I moved my room 4 times in two weeks. I even put all my luggage in the shower figuring they couldn't climb slippery porcelain. They wouldn't let me on the plane and I had to go stay with relatives in Italy. My aunt thought it was measles and wouldn't let ne near her pregnant daughter until I went to the hospital. Multi insect punctura wad the diagnosis (multiple insect bites).

When I got back home to a dermatologist I was told I was actually bitten ONLY about 75 times but my body had an allergic reaction that was identical to the bites. Yuk!

If the 2020 G7 Summit is in Miami I hope Putin is invited and stays at that bug ridden hotel of the moron. I hope they eat him alive. His blood is so vile it would probably kill each bug after one bite.

The British are known to take matters of heraldry seriously, and Trump’s American coat of arms belongs to another family. It was granted by British authorities in 1939 to Joseph Edward Davies, husband of Marjorie Merriweather Post, the socialite who built the Mar-a-Lago resort that is now Trump’s cherished getaway. Trump had never asked permission.

In the United States, the Trump Organization took Mr. Davies’s coat of arms for its own, making one small adjustment — replacing the word “Integritas,” Latin for integrity, with “Trump.”

Trump tried to bring the American version to Scotland a decade ago. But the materials ran afoul of the coat-of-arms authorities in Scotland. Trump also tried to trademark the emblem in Britain. But the application was rejected by their trademark office. The White House referred questions to the Trump Organization, which did not respond to requests for comment.

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/28/business/trump-coat-of-arms.html

The crest, on the right, that President Trump displays at his American properties is a coat of arms ... the crest, on the left, that British authorities granted to another family.

On the other hand, if Putin does show up, I hope he gets the same suite that Linder stayed in.

Seriously, I staycation instead. Can't see the sense to bedbugs. Got scabies in Canada in the 1970s once. That was enough.

There's a local charity here, Caritas, that went from helping families who lived in cars to a full fledged recovery operation. Incredibly impressive. They found that one of the biggest obstacles to people recovering from addiction was when life slaps them back in the face. Garnishments etc. so they started asking for household donations - your first paycheck is great but you also need a frying pan and forks and furniture. They couldn't take furniture or mattress donations because of bed bugs. Richmond VA is #1 per capita in tattoos and bed bugs. Sooooooo UPS donated a cooking room. Basically a big room that acts as an oven or kiln. Caritas was able to accept accept furniture donations. They just cook those little buggers.

bedbugs can show up ANYWHERE. The cleanliness/filthiness quotient has nothing to do with it. They're not after the Twinkie crumbs in the seat cushions -- they're after blood (preferably yours).

We had them and it took several tries to get rid of them. The funny thing is some people can be bitten by them and not get those welts. It's if you are allergic to them. I itched terribly. My husband wasn't affected.
