All the job growth from 2018 to 2019 from the US Labor Departmet was false government propaganda

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-created-500000-fewer-jobs-since-2018-than-previously-reported-new-figures-show-2019-08-21
U.S. created 500,000 fewer jobs since 2018 than previously reported, new figures show

Looking for help? Retail stores arenít hiring a lot of people these days as online rivals eat into sales. The U.S. government on Wednesday said the economy added 501,000 fewer jobs than initially reported.

Turns out hiring wasnít nearly as strong in 2018 and early 2019 as the government initially reported ó by about a half-million jobs.

No doubt Trump's men pressured the Labor department to inflate the figures.

7. Now there is an excellent question. Plus, how can we verify these new numbers?

Do they come from the same source?

18. There are always annual revisions as well as monthly.

Last edited Thu Aug 22, 2019, 07:16 AM - Edit history (2)

More information that companies need to provide at least annually adds to the data once a year that is used to revise numbers.

21. Tax filings. Probably from this last April...

The governmentís employment report each month is compiled from a survey of almost 700,000 work sites, but the BLS updates its numbers every year after rechecking its results against company tax records. These record are not immediately available.

Apparently the tax filings are what are triggering the modifications.

5. I have been wondering from day 1 if the admin wasn't lying

about labor stats. They lie about every thing else, why would they not lean on labor bureaucrats to make up numbers also?

I know that the labor depot. has to go back and correct numbers, but no correct has ever been anywhere near this one.

24. OK, I use this data all the time.

I really, REALLY hate to say this, but this particular anomaly is not Trump's fault, personally.

However, the fault DOES lie with the Republicans. You'll recall back in '14 when Obama was still in office, the Republicans absolutely would not pass any spending measure unless there was a corresponding cut. 'Budget neutral,' remember?

In 2014, Congress passed a budget that put substantial cuts on the Bureau of Labor Statistics, because hey, who needs data, right? So, BLS took back what the states had been doing and retooled the surveys so they could do it centrally. Unfortunately, the initial estimates were much less accurate than the estimates under the former methodology. This meant that both surveys used to calculate net jobs added and the unemployment rate yielded less accurate preliminary results, so the gap between the preliminary estimate and the final (adjusted) estimate was (and will continue to be) wider.

The Republican party is squarely at fault for this, but alas, not Trump personally.

Anyone "sensing" the economy knew that it was losing steam under Trump, as soon as his policies began to take hold.

31. I'm a federal worker- and I can tell you

That it isnít Trump putting pressure on federal workers to fudge numbers.

Federal workers generally do the best they can.

If anything, itís that it took this long to get actual data verified.

Remember, we lost 40 days in Dec-January for the shutdown, and the ripple effect is STILL adversely affecting things.

40. Revisions to initial reports happen all the time

It just takes time for the full data to get to BLS and other agencies and to be properly analyzed. After that happens, the agencies issue revised numbers.
