Article on why Evangelicals will vote for Trump AGAIN in 2020.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/evangelicals-arent-turned-off-by-trumps-first-term--theyre-delighted-by-it/2019/08/11/3911bc88-a990-11e9-a3a6-ab670962db05_story.html

1. They do have a very insular view of politics, and everything else, but we just have to find...

a way to deal with them.

They won't go away, and attacking or ridiculing them just makes them build stronger walls.

2. pretty simple

It's the white privilege stupid (directed to no one in particular)

Every one of these people I've met are the definition of not being the sharpest knife in the drawer, and desperately, unconsciously, trying to find a way to not lose what's left of their privileged life.

it trump or someone shows any sympathy, even if it's just using their language - then THAT's their guy.

But I agree, we have to find SOME way to bring them into the fold, probably by addressing their deep fear of losing that privilege but instead becoming more secure feeling more included. Not an easy job to be sure....

4. Evangelical is not a religion. It is a political party

And we should treat it as such.

5. Of course they will vote for him again

evangelical "christians" are taught from birth never, ever to question what they are told in church.

Their ministers are their gods and tell them what they believe.

The really funny thing is that each sect of these Republican Jesus cults really hates the other sects nearly as much as they do the liberals, feminists, gays, immigrants, and well, pretty much anyone outside of their own little clubs.

I've seen these attitudes in my own family/in-laws. On the surface, they seem like nice, decent people, but inside, they are not good people at all, they hold so much hate. The reason for the hate is that they truly, honestly believe that they are better and more important than the "sinners".

The good thing is that each generation, fewer of the young people keep these attitudes, but it will be a while before they die out.

7. It's Because The Evangelical Bible Only Has Two Pages

Page 1: Hate gays.
Page 2: Hate abortion.

The End.

You don't need an entire article to tell you that.

8. Most evangelicals I know are not pro-Trump, they are anti-Hilary and still believe they saved us

from her.

If we run someone without a strong Clinton/Obama connection that will give us the best chance to get some new name and face recognition for our party. That's how Trump won, is people wanted something different. They still want something different and new and exciting and they will easily vote against Trump if we give them someone who is strong and respectable and not Hilary.
