In listening to Rachel's opening, it suddenly struck me how damned comforting it is

to listen to someone who knows how to pronounce "nuclear".

Even mundane vestiges of normalcy and intellect are precious in this time of celebrated ignorance.

4. Took the night off, may watch Lawrence.

Watching Colbert from last night and even the appropriate making fun of the blithering idiot traitor causes me stress to watch, his voice makes me fucking ill.

6. I agree, but at least we don't have that layer of "yeah, but is this true?" anxiety

when we hear it from Rachel.

7. Yes, but in this case, I don't want it to be true.

8. We're recording her, as always. She comes on at 6pm here, so it's not that hard...

...to catch up. I so enjoy her intelligence, her earnestness, her research -- and her big vocabulary, it has to be said. And I will never, ever forget how she was handed the breaking news about the babies in cages, and choked up so bad she had to hand it off and go to commercial break.
