Toxic Fart Halts Debate in Kenyan Assembly

A Kenyan lawmaker let out a fart so pungent that it halted a regional assembly’s debate, the BBC reports. Accusations about the source of the flatulence came after one lawmaker announced: “Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is.” The accused denied the allegation, insisting: “I am not the one... I cannot do such a thing in front of my colleagues.” Eventually, Assembly Speaker Edwin Kakach ordered lawmakers out of the chamber so air fresheners could be brought in to clear the scene. “Get whatever flavor you will find in any office, whether it’s vanilla or strawberry,” he said. “We cannot continue sitting in an environment that smells bad.” The smell reportedly subsided before any sprays were found, allowing the debate on market stalls to continue.

1. Once when I was in the Army and in formation, someone let out an SBD that was so toxic

it could have peeled the pain off the walls if we had been inside. I was right behind the guy, and I never smelled anything so bad in my life...

6. Similar circumstances in the Navy

Occurred after a night of drinking Carlsberg Special and eating pickled eggs. Reeked of hydrogen sulfide. Oh, yeah...it was me.

Navy port visit, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Enlisted Fleet Club, Canadian ale. Deadly the next day. Many of us were guilty.

Cleared the shop.

It became pretty much a source of personal pride for most of us.

4. "Honourable Speaker, one of us has polluted the air and I know who it is." ...

Balderdash! As we say in our country - "the one who noted it, emoted it."

5. Stuck on a full flight

from New York non stop to Moscow in the mid 90's. It was so bad our entire row, those that had their deodorant packed in their carry on, spent hours spraying the air, it never stopped. We all ended up in Moscow with little left! There were rows of people behind us who were complaining but we were right behind the first big middle row. It was toxic. It was hard to sleep, it would wake you up. Nobody ever fessed up to it, really I cannot imagine why they would. People would have easily been ready to toss them out of the plane.

12. My older brother told me the story about

When he was an enlisted man in the service (Airborne - Army) in Germany, around 1966 or thereabouts.

The Brigade was in formation - awaiting a visit by the Commanding General for the base. They had been in formation for some time (anyone that has served in the service understands this) when the General finally arrives. So, as the General, Brigade Commander, Battalion Commander are walking and inspecting the troops (front of the formation),when someone cuts a loud, long one.

The General turns real red, as does the other commanders. He is really pissed. And my brother said, it was so loud and long, and no one could laugh. Anyway the General leaves after saying a few words to his subordinates. The other battalions were dismissed - except for my brother's battalion - where said 'loud&long' originated. Then, after all the officers had departed the battalion Sgt. Major screamed at the troops. Then, he requested that the soldier who had released said 'loud&long', please identify himself. The Sgt. Major said that the soldier should be proud of such an expression and should be recognized by the battalion. Of course no one did, but my brother said after being dismissed - everyone was laughing their asses off.
