Pregnant state Rep. Erica Thomas (D-GA) was grocery shopping with her daughter when the African-American woman was approached by a white man who hurled slurs at her and told her to go back to where she came from.

A crying 9 months pregnant Rep. Thomas went live on Facebook to recount the white privilege racism she faced at the store:

Rep. Thomas was in the checkout aisle when she was approached by a white man who said, “Tou lazy son of a bitch. You need to go back to where you came from.”

This incident happened in front of her young daughter who asked her why that man would say that to her.

I mean that literally.

My brother told me if you see someone getting bullied, just walk up, tell them you got their back, and stand quietly behind them. Bullies don’t like long odds, the person being attacked is still defending themselves, and it encourages others nearby to take like action, then or later.

I thought it was good advice.
