Did Obama attack any of his opponents when he was campaigning?

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by DonViejo (a host of the General Discussion forum).

Serious question. I don't know.

1. Oh, I'm sure this is a very, very serious question.

Not.

2. He threw a few punches at HRC

But that was mostly post-Iowa and by then he had been campaigning for almost a year and had built his favorable ratings up so high it didn't hurt him. Plus it was nothing compared with what came back at him from both Clintons.

5. Thank you.

That's the type of answer I was looking for. When I said I don't know, I meant I don't know.

3. Yes he did. You can't campaign against someone without attacking your opponents.

6. But is was based more on her Iraq war vote

and other issues. It wasn't a character attack.

7. I wasn't thinking of Hillary. But now I remember her celestial choir slam on Obama.

"The skies will open, the light will come down, celestial choirs will be singing and everyone will know we should do the right thing and the world will be perfect,”

14. she was 100% right on that

She said that in response to his repeated campaigning on the idea that Clinton's unique divisiveness was why the GOP wouldn't work with them. So what happened, on the literal night of the day of his inaguration McConnell literally conspired to refuse to work with him (a promise he kept in spades). Obama's biggest mistake was to promise that government would work once he was elected giving the GOP the power to render his promise not kept.

15. I was a Hillary supporter in 08 she hit him hard with the truth on that. She knew and time proved

her right. She above all people well knew that time of working with those people was passed. Hopefully, she tells that to Biden.

Or then again... maybe he's a dude and could get away with it...

11. He wasn't a senator

He couldn't vote for the Iraq war seeing as how he wasn't a senator at the time. But he was very public at the time about his opposition.

He spoke at an anti-war rally in Chicago on Oct. 2, 2002, the same day the resolution authorizing the use of military force in Iraq was introduced in Congress. The Senate voted on and passed that resolution on Oct. 11, 2002, by a 77-23 vote. It was signed into law by President George W. Bush five days later.

At the time of the anti-war rally, Obama was an Illinois state senator.

12. Yes of course.

The 2008 primary was hard fought. Then at the end there was this “Party Unity My Ass” nonsense from alleged Clinton supporters, although just like in 2016, this was almost entirely fictitious nonsense promulgated by right wing trolls.
