Like her predecessor – whose sex scandal became a national soap opera that nearly brought down his administration – S.C. Gov. Nikki Haley allegedly has a secret “love nest” in Washington, D.C.
Not only that, she and her husband – S.C. First Gentleman Michael Haley – are said to have an “open marriage” in which they are free to have sexual relations with other partners.

Rumors about the open nature of the Haleys’ marriage have floated around Lexington County for years. Naturally, these rumors intensified last summer when two men – including this website’s founding editor – stepped forward and acknowledged previous sexual relationships with Haley...In responding to the initial allegations of infidelity, Haley technically never denied having sexual relations with other men – she merely claimed that she had been “100 percent faithful” to her husband. Strict verbal constructionists quickly noted that the wording of Haley’s denial left the door open for the possibility that she had engaged in extramarital sex with the consent of her husband....

Last week, Nikki Haley got overzealous with her desire for Tea Party style cuts to the South Carolina budget. While, we all want to save money, she was shortsighted in the kinds of services she was cutting including almost half a million dollars of cuts to domestic violence crisis management and sexual assault prevention services in the state. Well, the South Carolina legislature disagreed with her vetoes of the budget and overturned them in a vote of 111-0.
She's also a notorious...er....ummm...what's the word? Oh yes--LIAR. Why would Mark Sanford go all the way to Argentina to screw this woman...and why does she insist that anyone thought she was involved, when no one seems to be admitting to even asking her the question?

Nikki's petulant need to be the center of attention more than the way in which she inserts herself into Gov. Mark Sanford's Appalachian Trail fiasco. In Can't is Not an Option, Haley writes:
...Tim managed to convince the now-ravenous media that I hadn't been in Argentina with the governor, but in the hours and days that followed the scandal only got worse."
Now, here's the funny thing: after having spoken with several reporters and political insiders,
there is reason to question Haley's account of the events mentioned above. Of the reporters that I spoke to, none of them contacted the Haley campaign about this alleged smear. For most, the first time that they had heard this anecdote was when Politico recently released an excerpt containing Haley's parking-lot claim. The same goes for the political insiders. The news that Haley's car was parked next to Sanford's during the whole Appalachian Trail fiasco was, well,
news to them. Nearly everyone was baffled by Gov. Haley's claim in Can't is Not an Option.
So what's going on here? Frankly, I have no idea. I've reached out to Haley's press secretary Rob Godfrey for some sort of clarification, but he hasn't gotten back to me. Hopefully, he will, and we'll know exactly which media organizations were ravenously pursuing this story which pretty much no one had heard of until, like what, two weeks ago.
