They should keep this circus going until November.

Perspnally I do not think either convention will change the poll numbers that much

(95,337 posts)I know that Biden gave Obama a bump after he was announced and that lead led them into a strong convention that pulled Obama into the lead. McCain's weak convention along with the implosion of Sarah Palin pretty much sealed a democratic victory.
It's between the time the challenger names his/her VP and their convention that if the candidate is viable they will show some life in the polls. Ryan was announced 2 weeks ago and yet the polls have hardly budged and in fact got worse in some swing states. I've also read that they are pulling out money from Pennsylvania, pretty much ceding this big swing state to the Democrats. I could see that happening a month before the election, similiar to what McCain did in 2008, but before the primaries is pretty darn bad.

(59,466 posts)It could be that a better than usual Romney day rolled out. Wait till the convention is over.
Personally, I think many of the speakers were awful and Ann Romney was not bad.

No clue as to how to relate to all 'those people'. lol. Matthews is an ass but sometimes he's just a cheek.

Most unlikable candidate of my lifetime.
And FDR was in office when I was born.

(18,998 posts)Cause they have to in order to explain a Rmoney win....and to keep the cash flowing in....if the fix is in.
And you will hear rationalizations for it like Rmoney's message is starting to get through....and People want change and Obama did not give it to them....and perhaps a nice October Surprise...(and this could be anything from an attack on Iran to some dirty stuff dug up by KKKarl Rove.)
And most of us will believe it all...cause the alternative is to painful.
Anyhow that is my prediction and I hope I have to eat these word come November.

(12,461 posts)with all the suppression of votes, and they happened to be people, whose lives will be affected with GOP in power. They deem us as inferior, we should not have the right to vote.
Problem they have had some blabblermouths, and idiots, overstepping in their zeal to suppress. By their cutting hours, has nothing at all to do with Voter fraud...it is for the sole purpose of keeping you people from the polls...Christie said it last night. "We do not govern by the polls, we change them."

(3,596 posts)For many election cycles until the 1990's, the information available to voters about candidates was limited to television spots on network and a few cable channels, local and national newspapers and radio. So the conventions were often some of the first opportunities they had to see and feel the party, the party platform and the candidate in a significant kind of way.
Now people are inundated with media from 24 hour news channels to the internet to Tweets and Twits and whatever.......
So I think the electorate washes out this way...
The vast majority are polarized...for either Obama or RMoney
Some independents will find the convention circus infomercials too much to watch
Few will watch the conventions other than out of curiosity and I doubt many will be swayed one way or the other.

(1,151 posts)when the light of day hits these ghouls they are exposed. All they can do is lie and race bait. Their 39 % will follow them to hell but normal people reject their childish rants. Civilized people reject their regressive thuggery. Thats why willard wont take questions from the press. They must hide him and send out bullies and sycophants.
I am looking forward to the debates. I am looking forward to willard having to stand alone and explain why he cant use his record as governor, reveal his taxes or take a stand on one issue. I am looking forward to the deer in the headlights as the president destroys him and makes it look easy.
He is going to loose his cool , and he is going to get caught lying and he is going to say something nasty.

But we can't wait for 'the deer in the headlights as the president destroys him' live, on nat. teevee everywhere.
