from Ann Romney's closing statement:
It has been 47 years since that tall, kind of charming young man brought me home from our first dance. Not every day since has been easy. But he still makes me laugh. And never once did I have a single reason to doubt that I was the luckiest woman in the world.
I said tonight I wanted to talk to you about love. Look into your hearts . . .
You can trust Mitt.
He loves America.
He will take us to a better place, just as he took me home safely from that dance.
Give him that chance . . .
Look, I'm sorry Ann. That's sweet, but it's just not going to fly. Your man Mitt's campaign has decided that THEY"RE going to be the ultimate deciders of the truth of his claims and accusations in this campaign. Trust is out of the question.
Apparently, Mitt'll just cover his ears and go la-la-la when the collective journalistic community calls him a liar -- as it has on his three welfare ads criticizing President Obama for something his campaign invented right out of their craven little minds -- as long as their lies are 'effective' in their character attacks.
from Buzzfeed yesterday:
Our most effective ad is our welfare ad, a top television advertising strategist for Romney, Ashley OConnor, said at a forum Tuesday hosted by ABCNews and Yahoo! News. Its new information....
The Washington Posts Fact Checker awarded Romneys ad four Pinocchios, a measure Romney pollster Neil Newhouse dismissed.
"Fact checkers come to this with their own sets of thoughts and beliefs, and were not going to let our campaign be dictated by fact checkers," he said. The fact-checkers whose institutional rise has been a feature of the cycle have "jumped the shark," he added after the panel.
So, that's the new republican argument for this presidential campaign: Trust them. Trust Romney.
Trust his opportunistic and financially-compromised ads.
Trust that there's nothing damning or illegal to be revealed in his tax returns.
Thrust that his record tax giveaway to his wealthy donors in the top 1% isn't inevitably going to bankrupt the rest of us.
Trust that he won't just open the door and lay down in front of attempts to weaken our individual and collective rights.
Trust that he won't just open the door and lay down in front of these tea party-whipped republicans in Congress.
Trust that he won't have the U.S. embroiled in a new war with Iran or Syria.
Trust that Mitt Romney wants to take us all home from the dance and still want to curl up behind us.
Right.

(9,385 posts)Or her either, for that matter. They're both a couple of glorified grifters. The most human thing about Rmoney is his abusive bullying sense of "humor".
She set the tone about herself when she called us "you people". She said that's all we're going to get, then that's all we need to know from her too. This performance last night was a joke. All of us didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday. And it's probable that those who did, were already among the Repubs anyway.
