Granted, I missed the last bit of it because I had to switch over to the Daily Show but, while he was loud and boisterous, to me, there wasn't much "there" there.

(5,158 posts)Clearly he was posturing for 2016. Rmoney was barely mentioned. IMO, it was a very dull speech.

(25,415 posts)then about Romney. I think he thinks Romney won't win. This was a speech for his future.

(44,872 posts)Lackluster speeches read from TelePrompters without passion, conviction or originality. Punctuated by hateful right wing talking points and dog whistle innuendo. I dont see this snore feast drumming up much enthusiasm for their wooden candidate.

Likely to be used in the campaign by Dems.

(40,416 posts)All I have I'd PBSx2, ABC, CBS, and local FOXx2. No broadband, either. Only iPhone with less than dialup bandwidth.
But PBS did insidious balancing bullshit. Gwen Ifill did her best, but her strings were being pulled from above. Almost all panelists were Repukes. They even had Newt Fucking Gingrich. No Dems at all.
But most of all I wanted to see and hear the speeches, which they mostly let go uninterrupted. Shields and Brooks were both good, but Mark wasn't pissed enough.
None of them picked up on the Christie gaff about GI Bill. None of them picked up on the cognitive dissonance of Ann Romney's speech -- a woman who's lived in the lap of luxury since she married Willard.
But, PBS at least presented many speeches without comment, a good thing.

(129,777 posts)Didn't intend to watch ANY, but internet was out last night so watched ann + crispie creme on MSNBC. Sorry Shields wasn't pissed enough. How'd Brooks sound, after his amazing column about rmoney which may think is satire? Maybe Brooks will be on again after rmoney 'speech?'
GI Bill no gaffe, the whole thing was scripted; why that was in I don't know, but I'm running with it at least.
Heading home, so may watch West Wing episodes instead of these puke-worthy animals.

The only people whooping and hollering were creepy young men with rosy cheeks in suits--18 to 25, the type of kids that Do Not Belong In Suits. They looked like they were coming from Great Aunt Mathilda's funeral, or something.

(714 posts)Everyone's speeches were rambling and seemed to have no point.. Almost like they were trying to avoid the fact it was supposed to me about Mitt...I was very surprised that Christie's was so bland..and pointless.

(1,936 posts)Anyone there knows it has 9.8% unemployment, and he left NYC with a century-old tunnel by turning down the Stimulus money to build another one and create 1000s of jobs.
CNBC said he destroyed 23,000 public sector jobs, and gave away the store to big business (not even to small business that makes jobs). Typical Republican BS.

(46,559 posts)who can actually give a good speech. Very little substance, but republicans tend to be short on substance. He does have a lot of charisma and Rachel just confirmed my opinion.
Ha, ha, she said this was Christie accepting the nomination for 2016!

(46,559 posts)Only republicans can really see it.
Actually the charisma is relative. The lineup today was SO boring: Reince Preibus, Scott Walker, Rick Santorum, Nikki Haley, and Governor Transvaginal Probe. Christie in comparison was pretty good.
I did a lot of fast-forwarding!

(8,377 posts)I can't see him getting across on the American public. Besides, carrying all that weight around, he probably will be dead before 2016 anyway. He must be packing close to 4 bills.
I'm not down on obese people. I could stand to lose 25# myself. But I spend a lot of time entertaining in retirement communities and nursing homes. Here's one thing I know for sure. You don't find any 300# 85-year-olds. They all die a lot younger.
The dream 2016 race, as far as the media is concerned, would be Jerry Springer v. Chris Christie.

Wouldn't REMOTELY suggest anyone would want governor crispie creme to run next time aroud.
