babysitting my grandchildren and didn't have any time to check out DU; though I do keep the TV on MSNBC all day when their parents are working, and I hadn't heard anything. Are there any organized protests or boycotts planned against Trump's Parade for the 4th of July in Washington DC; or is that sacrosanct?
I recall when Trump floated the idea when he returned from his trip to Paris and was wowed by France's Bastille Day Parade. Trump wanted tanks rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue, back on last years Veteran's Day and the military tried to talk him out of it. The Generals told him that the streets of Washington were not constructed for Tanks rolling down them and the weight of them would destroy the streets. They also told him that what Trump was envisioning, would take lots and lots of rehearsing time away from the Troops other requirements; i.e. Training, and if he wanted to honor the military, he should give them some much needed time off, which is what they really needed and would appreciate. Time spent with their families, not rehearsing for a Parade.
So, not to be deterred, the Turd planned an even bigger parade, this time for the 4th of July. The Generals' opinions were ignored as usual, and Jared and Ivanka's ideas won out.
So who's going to be in Wash DC for Trump's Parade? Is there any organized protest event going to be held outside of DC?

Sound like the better option.

(13,565 posts)The National Independence Day Festival and Parade (NIDFP) was an annual parade held in Washington, D.C., from 1981 to 1994. Charles W. Ferguson founded the National Independence Day Festival and Parade and served as its executive director. Mr. Ferguson registered the NIDFP as a non-profit organization, and received financial support for the celebration from industrial heads in the Washington D.C. area. After receiving permission from the National Park Service to hold the parade along Constitution Avenue, the first National Independence Day Parade was held July 4, 1981. The parade consisted of various entities: high school marching bands, military bands, theatrical and other musical groups. The last NIDFP parade was held on July 4, 1993 the organization being unable to meet the financial demands required to continue its activities. Fears of terrorism stemming from the Persian Gulf War and Desert Storm also led to bands and other performing groups dropping out of the parade and festival, as well as a decline in tourism and airline travel, and the ultimate termination of the NIDFP and its participation in 4 July festivities.
