2. The world dodged a bullet. It's absolute luck that a raging knucklehead like Carlson

uttered the right words at the right time. It's absolute luck that Trumpy didn't discuss the issue with Laura Ingraham, resident Fox Nazi. Without experts involved, everything is a crap shoot. Carlson could have had horrible sex (likely with Ingraham) hours before and said something like, "Oh, fuck it all." Trumpy could have thought, "Yeah, fuck it all." And we'd be in a weapons-grade MIC windfall and a lot of deaths. Trumpy's restraint is tissue paper thin.

Yes it would have been a mess and it’s all Trump’s prodding and provoking that created it.

ended up saving the day. What is scary is that Trump listens to people like Tucker and other unqualified people for advice on defense and foreign policy instead of listening to his own advisers. He has absolutely no fucking clue what he is doing, he just acts on impulse, so we are in a very precarious situation here. There is no telling what he could do at any moment.

We could wake up any morning and be in a full-fledged war with Iran, North Korea or even China if Trump decides that is what he wants. He needs to go!

...not that that's any better, but with Trump infamous for adopting the view of the last person who talked to him, it beat Bolton being that last person.

I think Trump got told by more than one of the Joint Chiefs of Staff that if he wanted the military command to stay intact, and not suffer mass resignations or downright mutiny, he should "rethink" his inclination to initiate an armed conflict with Iran over a drone that may or may not have strayed over their airspace--especially seeing as how it appears to have been shot down by technology we were unaware that they had.
