This shouldn't come as any surprise, given that it was a phone call with Putin that convinced Trump to suddenly lay off Maduro in Venezuela.
According to reports, Trump called for a 'tremendous' retaliation against Iran for shooting down his big, beautiful, shiny drone/airplane thing the night before the planned attack. The next morning they had a security meeting to discuss it at 11:00am. Trump wasn't there, because he doesn't start work before noon. (Takes a good five hours of executive time to apply the lemon-yellow hair dye, and smear on the tangerine bronze cream; all to the sound of Fox News...) So, at 11:00am, Colonel Blimp (aka Pompeo), and the Mustacheoed Mental Case (aka Bolton) hatched the plan to attack. Then there was a second meeting at 3pm to tell Trump what the plan was.
Then, according to reports, he 'got on the phone with people,' and eventually called it off.
Translation: He got on the phone and consulted Sean Hannity, Lou Dobbs, Jeanne Pirro, Dan 'Bongo' Bongino, and Chuck Norris; all of whom told him "bombs away!"
He then talked to his BFFs Putin and Mohammed 'bone saw' bin Salman, who told him 'NO! You're not allowed to do that.'
Putin understood that the Iranians could make trouble for him in Syria, and MBS understood the Iranians could make trouble for him in Yemen.
Then Trump asked Putin for a plausible cover story for why he called off the strike (just like he asked Putin for a plausible cover story for the Trump Tower meeting being about 'adoption'), and Putin told him to tell his half-wit followers that he'd called off the air strike because he actually CARES about Iranians being killed.
Forget the outrage over Trump's indecisiveness, mental incompetence, and general flakiness. The real outrage is that he's still probably taking orders from PUTIN.

(12,618 posts)The whole thing was a bluff on Trump's part. The Iranians called it, so Trump backed down. Just as he always does. Of course he spins it as, "I was concerned about casualties." LOL. The reality was that they laughed at his bark, and discovered he had no bite.
