GOP frets about Trump's poll numbers

BY REID WILSON - 06/19/19 06:04 AM EDT

As Trump kicks off reelection, his party worries he’s an anchor.

President Trump formally kicked off his re-election campaign Tuesday in front of thousands of fans at a boisterous rally in the heart of battleground Florida, even as top strategists in his own party worry that his weak political standing threatens the rest of the Republican ticket.

Trump reacted angrily last week to leaked internal surveys conducted by his own campaign that showed him trailing in virtually every swing state on the map. He fired several pollsters, and his campaign manager insisted that Trump’s numbers had improved.

But public polls conducted more recently mirror some of the troubling indicators that Trump’s own polling found. What’s more, in interviews, half a dozen prominent Republican pollsters working on campaigns around the country said their own results showed a president who starts his reelection bid from behind.

“His numbers are problematic,” said one top Republican pollster, who asked for anonymity to describe private survey data. “Folks are nervous, but no one is surprised.”

Which means Democrats can pounce, go after Trumps fragile ego. Stress what he has NOT done.

Only 2 years later, in 1976, Republicans lost a very close election for president.

And, in 1980, Republicans won the presidency going away. That was only 6 years later.

the demographics of the future spell terrible news for Republicans. More minorities, an increasingly liberal population make for tough times ahead for conservatives.

They have almost no path to a popular vote win in the Presidential election, which is why they love the electoral college.

Republicans know this and that’s why they gerrymander, suppress votes, and engage in other forms of cheating.

in 2016, it was through the NRA

i still think at least some if it is similar to the fake fundraiser that Walter White's son had in Breaking Bad. His son put a plea on (I think) youtube asking for money for his father's cancer treatment, and Saul Goodman, the shady lawyer, used a computer program to "donate" the illicit drug money through a slew of money donors across the country. $5 here, $10 there, $1 another time and $25 another... all attributed to random names across the internet (don't remember the exact details - maybe dead people or people that had moved?)
