If Trump refuses to leave the White House, if he looses the next election...

and Yes, he will lose the next election, then this will happen:

...If he refuses to leave after warnings over and over..(but I think he will leave, but nevertheless here is what will happen if he doesn't leave), then the new President can order the military to forcibly remove him. It is that simple. He and his group will be taken out by force, whatever that means. His staff and his wife will leave voluntarily, but Trump might not. It will be ugly, but that is what could happen. (The guards at the White House will not listen to Trump and they will ignore him)

2. I personally think he won't run again but he's playing the crowd, to fundraise, so he ...

can rip off the campaign funds...nothing concrete, but just that he is in the worst shape of anyone I know for his age and he's a pig, doesn't take care of himself, and throw temper fits all of the time. He's going to stroke out or something else, being in such poor shape.

8. I agree with you..I do not think he will run again. Lot's of reasons.

Your reason is one of them. I don't think he likes the criticism, and although he is a "world leader" I do not think he likes being a "world leader." He wants to go off and play golf everyday and not be followed around all the time. Yes, he could stoke out any time. If he does, he will not be able to run again.

He can be indicted and arrested after January 20, 2021. He may run just to try and avoid that

If he gets away with his crimes the next Republican president will just push the envelope further. Nixon, Reagan, Bush I, and Bush Ii each one worst than the one before because they knew there were no real consequences.

I remember people here saying he would never serve if elected last time, or he would resign in six months, or in a year...yada yada yada.

That asshat is a narcissist. He will run again.

3. His only hope would be to try to contest a close election, but I wouldn't count on SCOTUS to do that

again, sans something really bizarre having happened. Yes, even with this SCOTUS...

Once EC meets and certifies, he no longer has that kind of power except in the ceremonial sense pending the inauguration.

In the House of Representatives or the Supreme Court. It does not have to be a big public event, just one tv camera broadcast out to the world.

18. He would need to be charged with a federal crime first.

No one would have standing to challenge the self-pardon, it could not be litigated until he attempted to use it to dismiss a federal charge.

Iím also rather skeptical SCOTUS would strike it down, the text is clear that the only limit to the pardon power are cases of impeachment.

23. I may not have been clear, he can certainly issue the pardon prior to charges.

Just pointing out that no one would have standing to challenge the validity of the pardon until and unless DOJ decides to ignore it and charges him anyway.

He could self-pardon himself on the way out the door, but it could then take years to actually see any fights over it in court, if ever.

until it could be proven beyond a shadow of a doubt the entire building was bug free.

I would not put it past turdface to have allowed it to happen. Hell, Putin's cronies were in the Oval Office, alone with turdface, for an extended period of time. Recording devices can be EXTREMELY small. And Putin surely has all the latest in undetectable bugs.

It could actually be the people's house, only used for official social functions, and another more secure place built for Joe, Pete, Elizabeth, Kamala, Cory, Bernie (or whomever).

And I am NOT being sarcastic.

where if he sees that he can not win, no way, now how, even with putins help, he would come up with some reason next year to step down. There is no way he want's to be seen as a loser.

If he does hang in and still loses, he will claim the election was rigged so he would lose, he will blame the Democrats, and he will continue to rant and rave about every day on twitter, until he is either put in jail for all the crimes he committed, or kicks the bucket.

That would be too dangerous to his own perfect orange skin. Instead he will insist he was robbed or the Republican party betrayed him while simultaneously saying he made America great and his work is done. Then he'll steal the White House silver, break all the dishes and go out for a round of golf.

26. When people like Maher say 'if he doesn't leave' they don't mean

...actually walking out of the WH. He has to do that on a daily basis as part of Presidenting anyway. If he loses the election he will have several months before the inauguration to cast doubt on the election results, declare some sort of emergency, and try to convince as much of the power structure as he can to stand by him instead of admitting the authority of the new President. I can imagine some arms of authority sticking with Trump for various self-serving ends, and others definitely not doing so. Actually keeping possession of the WH is relatively minor; it really comes down to who is willing to take your orders when you call them on the phone, and what you are willing to ask them to do on your behalf.

It's not certain that they would try this but it's by no means certain they won't, and if they do it's not at al certain how it would unfold. It would get ugly quick, and we're talking not watergate but 1860's levels of ugly.

1) because he's a drama queen and
2) because he actually hates being president (work!) and would prefer to be (UNFAIR-ly!) ousted to losing an election. Then he can go back to doing what he likes: playing golf and the victim.

35. That sort of thing doesn't happen the way anyone predicts it will

You are talking about a coup.

Here's the thing. They only happen when things are fully corrupt and that senior figures are not loyal to who they are supposed to be loyal to. Coup's don't happen in a vacuum when just the insurgent (in this case Trump) decides that he wants power. They happen when they have followers and followers of followers etc.

And who pays? We all do. Civil war. Destruction of the economy and country and lives upon lives.

I don't think such a thing will happen. Trump will leave quietly just like all his predecessors (and each side every 4 years predicts the current president won't leave).

But Trump does have followers. Millions of them and he placed some of them in powerful positions.

Let's hope this simple stay idle discussion.

39. turdface can't do anything quietly.

Besides, he has had a taste of the entire world hanging on his every word. (The Apprentice on mega steroids.) He will not give that up quietly.

THAT is what this has all been about. Celebrity. AND the hundreds of millions he has raked in by forcing the taxpayers to pay for all the security at all his properties, the entire floor of turdface tower occupied by the secret service, all the RNC functions at his properties, all the visiting dignitaries trying to curry favor by staying at his properties, not to mention the Saudis bailing out Jar-head for satan's address, and I could go on... (Hopefully we can get as much as possible back through RICO.)

No, this has all been about money, branding (too bad "trump" now = shit), and being Putin's whore (no offense to any Lady of the Evening, EXCEPT Melania) and doing every thing possible to destroy the basic foundations of our democracy.

And he is still a PATHETIC LOSER.

So Sad.

He'd be "controlled" by "regular" Republicans. And if he actually did [insert crime of choice] he'd be impeached. He'd be crazy to screw around with healthcare. He'd be gone by Christmas 2017. He's breaking this law and that law, and he's going to jail for sure, now. Wait until the full Russia conspiracy comes out. Wait until the Muller report comes out. Trump is toast!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
And here we are, 45 still in office, still saying/doing completely insane shit. The single constant that runs from November 2016 to the present moment is: When it comes to 45, NOTHING is certain. Nothing.
