Why did Trump give an interview to ABC News??

First of all, we know it was not because of his strong belief in the First Amendment.

When he sat down with George Stephanopolous, he was doing it for Donald Trump. You can take that to the bank. But why?

Was he trying to teach his wayward worshipers at FOX that they could lose their ratings if they did not get in line? Recently, they were being too kind to the Democrats. They were out of step with their master.

Or was he trying to distract and minimize the testimony of Don Jr., on that very same day? "Yeah, it was no big deal...I would do it again". People are still picking their jaws from upon the floors.

But, he gambled that he could go heads up with George Stephanopolous and bullshit his way thru. He failed.

His mouth is like a runaway freight train. Once it starts, it's hard to slow down. He couldn't help from telling lies and making numerous contradictions.

On one occasion, Stephanopolous asked Trump why he could answer his (Stephanopolous) questions but that he couldn't answer the questions from Robert Mueller? That was like the beginning of the freight train ride. Trump mumbled something about Mueller's team only wanting to catch him in a lie??

In the end, it looked like 'Old 97'. It looked like a train wreck.

2. It is rare.

But, I think he is trying to use them for propaganda purposes, benefiting himself, of course.

3. He did this because

He knows soon he and others will be exposed more from others testifying, so this is his tactic to lessen the impact on the truth coming out, then he says the opposite the next day, again this is the same tactic he used with the racist marching and called them good people on both sides after the racists murdered that woman. Believe his first statement as the truth , and the rest all trump BS and lies. Also it could be dementia causing these slip ups, then damage control the next day.

4. Maybe he thought people wouldn't realize what ABC has become

Wikipedia says Sinclair Broadcast Group is the largest owner of stations affiliated with Fox and ABC.

7. ABC is owned by the Walt Disney Corporation, not Sinclair.

Sinclair owns a bunch of local affiliates, but they have no control over anything ABC produces. They only dictate local programming, such as the local news. They have no say in ABC's national news programming.

8. He is delusional.

He seems to think that he has the same effect on the general population that he has on the fox news cult followers: he just has to open his mouth and whatever lies fall out his listeners will believe and accept without question....

12. But he has to divide them in some manner...

...before it is a successful strategy for him.

He cannot have people uniting. He must have division.

14. I don't think there is a master plan - I think he really believes he has a big brain - his words!

He thinks he can outsmart anyone - - He's a narcissist.

This is why - the people who are smarter than he is - his lawyers - would not let him sit down with Mueller

If he falls apart with reporters - Just imagine him sitting down with trained interrogators.

15. For the same reason he gives interviews to the New York Times and the WA Post.

For the same reason he takes questions from reporters everyday outside the WH when he is going somewhere. He loves to spar with the media. And he knows it will be played everyday on TV, social media and print media.

17. But one small distinction...

...when he answers the ropeline on his way to his helicopter, he chooses which question that is shouted to him to answer. He uses the press to spread the propaganda of the day.

16. Because he can't resist being on camera and the center of attention, so the idea of being so

for 30 hours of interviews was delightful to him. He assumed he was clever enough to control how he came across.

Don't forget, he initially wanted to be interviewed in person by Mueller's team. He was sure he would successfully sell his BS to them. His lawyers had to forcefully persuade him otherwise.

18. It was to flaunt his power in order to demoralize opposition

A demonstration that he can do anything he wants, flout laws, and encourage illegality while on national TV. What price has he paid for admitting to obstruction of justice during the Lester Holt interview? Right now he is above the law, until our leaders decide to disabuse him of that notion.
