The inaugural Hill of Heroes" display, which was installed Saturday morning, features 12,000 American flags on the hillside next to the Shrine of Memory.
Kate Belleman, Virginia War Memorials Sales and Events Manager, said between 60 to 80 volunteers, including Boy Scouts, installed the flags to represent the Virginians killed in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Persian Gulf conflicts.

Yet another war memorial. Its getting to be like 7-11s and Starbucks, there is one on every corner.
From where I sit, there are no less 5 war memorials within less than a half mile.
How many memorials are there to inventors? Or explorers? Or writers? Or intellectuals? Within 5 miles? 20 miles? Within a 100 miles? That answer is always easy: 0

Mostly they "discovered" new populations to exploit.
