NOT QUITE, NIGE Labour wins Peterborough by-election as Nigel Farage's Brexit Party falls short

LABOUR has won the Peterborough by-election, denying Nigel Farage's Brexit Party a first seat in parliament.

Unite activist Lisa Forbes was elected with a majority of 683 over the Brexit Party's Mike Greene in a closely-fought contest.

It is a disappointing result for Mr Farage's party, given 60% of voters in the area backed Brexit in the 2016 referendum.

He had been hoping his party would secure its first MP less than six months after it formed.

The by-election was called after Peterborough's previous MP Fiona Onasanya was forced out after she was jailed for lying about a speeding offence.

Onasanya was elected as a Labour MP with a water-thin majority of 607 and was suspended from the party after she was sentenced.

But since Labour is run by a rabid antisemite and to my understanding the Labour candidate made antisemitic comments this was a fight between two sets of bad guys.

Sat next to girl from London living in Dublin on plane yesterday. She said her dad in London was so upset by brexit he moved back to the Netherlands. I guess he was from there many years ago.

I wonder if many others have moved out?
