for a couple of days in Ireland. That comes to almost $250,000 for each limo and driver for two days. Here's a link to a brand new, 2020 Mercedes van-style limo for sale. The price: $174,000!

Think about it! He's paying more per limo than those limousines cost to buy, brand new, in order to use them for a couple of days.
Why?
The only reason I can think of is a kick-back of part of that $1 million back to the Trump family. Not to Donald, directly, no. Instead it will be laundered carefully and kicked back to Don Jr. or Eric, through one of the Trump family businesses.
There is no other possible reason for that cost for four limos for 2 days.

(146,262 posts)golf resort. The taxpayers will pay for that, too, but will be charged far more than the usual cost. Just like the limo rentals.
This is the emoluments clause being corrupted through misdirection of payments.
This is why Trump spends so much time at Trump-owned properties. His entourage has to pay his property for everything, from rooms and meals to golf cart rentals. And all of those things are charged at premium rates far higher than what the general public would pay for them.
It's all an easy to understand scheme to pump taxpayer dollars into the Trump family business accounts. The total amount during Trump's term in office will easily exceed $1 billion, I'm certain. And there will be no itemized accounting that compares what Trump properties charge the US Government with the standard rates for the same services.
I don't know how that would be investigated, but it should be.

Just another way the grifters use our tax money.

(9,426 posts)how much this entire trip cost the treasury. The entire family of grifters went along - FREE. Vacation on the taxpayers dime. Even Kellyanne and Sarah Sanders. The pub crawl by the tRump "boys" likely cost a pretty penny, too, what with all the secret service protection. I am beyond disgusted. It cost a fortune for this grifting family to make the USA look like damn fools. The ORIGINAL cost for those 4 limos should be made public. I will bet they were vastly inflated, like everything tRump.

They know this is wrong and if they don't we need to be certain that the people we put in that office has an inkling how this looks and what it actually is.
A HERETIC I AM
(24,362 posts)Second, this was more than likely a decision made by the Secret Service, as opposed to anything from the oval office.
This is over the top hyperbole, frankly. I doubt the fees and the idea that Trump himself had anything to do with this choice is as likely as him demanding to be flown in a Bell helicopter instead of a Sikorsky.
It ain't happening.
But of course, it makes for a great thread...people love to be outraged, no matter the source or how ridiculous.

Explain $1 million paid to rent four limos for a couple of days. As I pointed out, for that amount they could have bought those four limos.
I've rented limos with drivers a few times. I've never paid $250,000 for one for two days. I've never paid $125,000 for one for a single day, either.
My wife and I rented a limo a few years ago to take her parents on a wine tour at the wineries around the area where we lived in California. We had the limo all day, along with a driver, who took us from one winery to another for tours of those wineries. The whole shebang cost us about $400, and it was a gift for her father's 70-something birthday. It was a gift that was very well received by him.
I didn't pay the price of a limo for the day. I paid the going rate in that area.

(4,291 posts)Who in their right mind would want to ride in these limos after they've been contaminated with AquaNet, hamburder wrappers, KFC chicken bones and crumbs, and the general stench that this whole family exudes?
Even extensive detailing would only cover up some of the mess. The vehicles would have to be completely gutted: from carpeting and floor mats to upholstered seats, to fabric window shades, to the ceiling. And even then, future passengers would still know that cadet bone spurs and his spawn had ridden in them. Not fit for hauling swine to the marketplace now.
I guess someone could transport them to the USA and sell them to wealthy Drumpf donors, but with tariff-mania underway, even the most loyal Cult45 members would opt for limos assembled in 'Murica.
