The ship was named for John's Father and Grandfather. I heard they were both 4 star Admirals.

it's fine that it is named for John's father and grandfather. But I am a bit unsettled by it...our culture and making money...but I suppose it wouldn't be so awful to merchandise their fame...

This hat looks like such an item. It doesn't look like an "official" Navy hat. Most likely it's the creation friends or family members of those serving on the ship. You can get a wide variety of USS Gabrielle Giffords paraphernalia, too. No hats, however. But, that's probably just a matter of time. I'm sure every other ship in the Navy has stuff represented there, too.

Go to "Medals of America" site. Hats for any ship. They even make them to order. I had one made for my ship, plus, my years served, my name, rank and rate printed on the side.
