APNewsBreak: Republicans less likely to be checked

Democratic and independent voters were exceedingly more likely to have their right to vote questioned as part of a citizenship status review by Colorado's Republican secretary of state, The Associated Press learned Monday. Democrats and independents received 86 percent of the nearly 4,000 letters from Secretary of State Scott Gessler asking them to either voluntarily withdraw their registration or show proof of citizenship, according to figures his office provided the AP.

The breakdown bolstered skepticism that Gessler had a political motivation in sending the letters. Democrats have long argued that proposals to question voters' citizenship disproportionately affect members of their party and those registered as independents.

Eighty-six percent. That's a rate you could *only* hit by aiming for 100%. Marr Aug 2012 #2

No matter what your demographic profile is, you're bound to hit some of your own. Fourteen percent of their shots missed. Clearly intentional vote suppression.

Shouldn't there be some kind of legal action coming from the federal level at this obvious attempt at fraud and intimidation? 86%? You can't hit those figures unless you really were going for a shut down. They probably threw those few Republican names in to try to not look like they're committing fraud of the worst kind... But that really didn't work.

Oh, that's right, if the federal government under the lead of a Democrat attempts to prosecute a Republican politician then its big government. But if its the other way around, it's proper leadership. Then, next thing you know some redneck wack-job will run into a FEC building or Democrat's rally and start shooting people.

Why can't we just slap stupid people? Why?! -facedesk-

Was working at the polls in 2004 when an obvious Republican came in with a "W" button on. We had been instructed that any political items, including T shirts were not allowed within like 100 ft of the polling place and we should ask them to remove them or leave. I asked this lady to remove her button before proceeding ( I was checking names to poll roster). She hit the ceiling, as if she was special and I was just intimidating her and I wouldn't tell a Dem to do the same thing (not true of course) and she had no idea what my political affiliation was. The poll leader came over and supported me and she stashed the button. Surprise-The poll leader was a Repub too.

stall and delay until after the election when nobody will care what laws and regulations were broken. Then repeat next election.

Can we be any more openly corrupt? Or should I say "They?"
