She knows what it will take to win in 2020 and help Dems keep control of the House, AND take the presidency.
Healthcare, corruption, infrastructure.
One year from now we'll look back and have to admit that she played the whole Trump corruption/impeachment issue perfectly.
More House hearings and victories in court are on the horizon.
We will be victorious.

(42,302 posts)She will not bring an impeachment inquiry to a floor vote unless and until she has all the votes.

She needs (at least) 165 more. I believe Pelosi has decided to allow all her members (plus any Republicans) to decide for themselves, and to respond to their constituents' desires, for or against, impeachment.
It will require more evidence from the ongoing investigations to convince 165+ more members to vote for articles of impeachment. Pelosi cannot magically begin the process on her own.

(4,178 posts)Many are quoting that she said she must have an "iron clad"case first. I heard her also say something that implies she "knows more".Then she said the person who knows the most is the president. It sounded like she was implying she knows what he knows.
I am rooting for impeachment, but I am standing with Nancy who knows what she is doing

(18,486 posts)politics and impeachment than anyone here.
When I first started teaching, I was pretty young - younger than some of my students - and they sometimes gave me attitude. I would tell them, "You may know more than I do about a lot of things, but there's one thing you definitely don't know more about than I do and that's Civil Procedure, and if you don't believe me, please go on up to the Dean's office and offer to teach this class in my place and see how that goes."
That's how I feel about Pelosi. Some people may be certain they're smarter than she is, but they definitely don't know more about her job than she does and they only sound silly when they claim otherwise and sound really obnoxious when they try to mansplain her job to her from behind their keyboards.

(13,013 posts)We lost the house while she was speaker in 2010. The house senate and presidency were all gone by 2016, with Pelosi part of our terribly smart party leadership.
I guess brilliance struck in 2018.

(14,876 posts)But shes not infallible. Remember she took impeachment off the table for Bush Jr. in 2006. Today, he roams free, paints shit and collects a nice pension while millions, including my friends brother, are in the ground, victims of an illegal war.
Trumps even more of a menace. Hes a murdering crook whos beholden to Putin.
