Ex-GOP congressman calls for impeachment

By Devan Cole, CNN
Updated 10:01 PM ET, Fri May 24, 2019

... "I'm calling for impeachment now because the Mueller report is out, and in it (special counsel Robert Mueller) describes 10 obstruction of justice charges that he could not bring because of a Department of Justice rule and regulation that says you can't indict a sitting president -- that's (reason) number one," former Rep. Tom Coleman, who represented Missouri for nearly two decades, told CNN's Erin Burnett on "OutFront."

"Number two, I believe this is an illegitimate President because he welcomed help and influence from the Russians in his campaign," he said. "For example, his (campaign) chairman Paul Manafort met with a Russian intelligence asset in New York and shared with him their polling information and a strategy on how to win the Midwestern states" ...

1. Finally, a few GOPers willing to take a stand for the USA

Right now the score is less than 1% GOP elected officials for America.

And more than 99% GOP elected officials for the KGOpee republican Draft-Dodger-in-Chief, Casino Hustler & Evil Empire* Sycophant, Dirty Donny (R).

* russia, according to ronald freaking reagan

10. I seriously doubt this is a stand against Trump

More like the GOP using former members with nothing to lose to help push the Dems into impeachment so Trump and co. can walk away scott free.

I just canít understand taking a Republicans words at face value. If youíre a Republican today your motives and ethics are automatically in question AFAIC. If they had any real ethnics the Republican Party would be tiny.

2. As explained here, as I understood it to be, it's not a 'rule', merely a 'policy'

to not be able to indict a sitting president.

3. And if he were a current GOP Congressmember,

would he be as brave?

4. Probably not.

The current members are too scared, for one reasoner another of what might happen to them if they go against trump. It seems that trump may have something on most of them that he would use to destroy them if they talked.

I guess their "oath" of office to defend this country isn't as strong as the fear of being outed by trump, and then losing their power!

5. I agree.

And for many, it is obvious that money is their only motivation.

6. Yes, they know if they criticize any powerful Rethug, they will lose....

any and all future campaign funding from the big boys as well as guaranteed cushy post-politics jobs in media, banking, think tanks, etc.

What a racket and all behind a huge GOP curtain of secrecy. One can easily draw parallels to the mafia except instead of shooting the traitors, they just retire them into poverty and shame.

8. They're afraid of being primaried

What Trump "has" on most R's in Congress is a rabid voting base and plenty of ambitious hard right politicos eager to displace the old guard Republicans.

7. Anyone who speaks out is brave.

Given Trump's penchant for trying to ruin careers, and even personal lives, of anyone who says anything critical of him.

It's also helpful for other Republicans to hear, even though they may hate what he said.
