...and for the mid-term elections to be over, so they could take control of the House and investigate for themselves what happened between the Trump team and Russia's involvement in the 2016 election?
But, as soon as they were scheduled to take over the House, Donald Trump shut down the government for 35 days. It was late in February by the time Democrats were able to get the new Representatives into place and to begin normal House operations.
Then, Donald Trump got his new Attorney General, William Barr. Mueller ended his investigation, voluntarily or not, we do not yet know? Then Barr gave his conclusions of the Mueller Report and proceeded to hide the report from Congress and the public for a month.
Congress had been on the job for two months by then. They were ready to investigate and do the job that the Republicans refused to do.
However, at that time, Trump and his White House, with the help of his new AG, went into complete cover-up mode. Trump accused the Democrats of wanting a "do-over". It was a blatant cover-up. Mitch McConnell went to the floor of the Senate to declare the investigation over. AG Barr announced his plans for a counter-investigation against the investigators.
With the stone-walling and the cover-ups, the Democrats are still waiting to get started on their investigation. Trump is using every lie and tactic in his very large book to keep them from doing their job.
It is now late May and Democrats have been in power for about three months.

(16,254 posts)How many days is Congress basically closed during the summer? Just getting through the courts on these subpoena bans will take a long time.
I think these refusals for people to testify/any method available to block are methods Trump has used in his personal life to avoid law suits by contractors and other entities he has refused to pay . Wear them down over time and pile up lawyers' fees. If I remember correctly, he even sued his lawyers to avoid their fees for delaying lawsuits. Am I right?
These tactics are common for Trump. The Democrats have to waste time figuring out how to get around them.

(7,142 posts)It isn't just Trump, it's Republicans. I think back to when Obama won and the 1st thing that Republicans did was to hold a meeting and make an unholy pledge to block everything that president Obama and Democrats propose. They took a pledge to make everything political, it mattered not whether Democrats wanted to pass a bill that would cure cancer, Republicans vowed to oppose it. I guess I was naïve back then because I thought to myself, that strategy will never work. I was wrong. Republicans campaigned to demonize Democrats, call them Socialists, communists, lazy, freeloaders, dehumanize them, and the M$M is complicit with Republicans.
My god look what they did to Hillary; she fell and hit her head, has brain damage, has a hole in her tongue, only has 6 months to live, runs a pedophile ring out of the basement of a pizza shop that doesn't even have a basement. I live among Trumpers in central Pa. and while shopping at a local country store I noticed that the owner had a letter to the editor tacked on the wall that I had written years ago urging people to shop local. We talked a little bit about politics and then she asked me, you didn't vote for Trump did you? I told her no and her reply was, how could you vote for Hillary? She's a very nice person who is totally brainwashed, I now choose politely to shop elsewhere.

(4,341 posts)They are not, you have presented a timeline that hardly describes the work of an incompetent. Democrats need to step up to try to stay ahead of the crooks, they work hard at being evil, and we have to admit they do a very good job at it.
Well done!
