A little factoid about the Preakness this weekend.

With no Triple Crown possible this year, we can have fun rooting for a horse for different reasons. There is a Maryland bred horse named Alwaysmining who has had success in his own right, albeit not the Derby. He is a good, strong horse. But the reason I will be rooting for him is his trainer. A woman named Kelly Rubley, who has 35 horses in her charge right now.

1. Nice! I'll be watching

(IF I've returned from daughter's baby shower.)

P.S. Saturday is the Full Moon. The next Blue Moon will be on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 5:11 p.m. ET, and it will be of the seasonal variety, because it is the third of four full moons to take place in Spring 2019. As The Almanac reports, this Blue Moon will be a Full Flower Moon.

2. What a handsome animal! I wish him good luck in the Preakness.

And I hope his trainer gets some glory.

Lane 7: Alwaysmining, ran 1st in the Federico Tesio Stakes (from which the winner usually advances to the Preakness)
Lane 8: Signalman, ran 3rd in the Blue Grass Stakes
Lane 9: Bodexpress, ran 13th in the Kentucky Derby
Lsne 10: Everfast, ran 11th in the Grade 3 Pat Day Mile
Lane 11: Laughing Fox, ran 1st in the Oaklawn Invitational (which is ungraded because this is the first time they've run it; it's held on the last day of Oaklawn Park's racing season)
Lane 12: Anothertwistafate, ran 2nd in the Lexington
Lane 13: Win Win Win, who's going off at 15-1 so apparently he doesn't. He ran 9th in the Kentucky Derby.
