From Mueller report: infiltration of state boards of elections, secretaries of state, county gov'ts

Mueller Concedes Special Counsel Never Analyzed 2016 Vote Computers or Results for Manipulation: 'BradCast' 4/22/2019
Finds Russians implanted malware, but didn't check if results affected

As the Special Counsel's report reveals (Vol. 1, pages 51-52, in the section entitled "Intrusions Targeting the Administration of U.S. Elections" ) , Russian intelligence operatives at the GRU targeted and infiltrated "individuals and entities involved in the administration of the [2016] elections. U.S. state and local entities, such as state boards of elections, secretaries of state, and county governments, as well as individuals who worked for those entities. The GRU also targeted private technology firms responsible for manufacturing and administering election-related software and hardware, such as voter registration software and electronic polling stations."

In other words, voter registration databases AND voting systems, such as voting machines and tabulators. Mueller's report goes on to concede that though the GRU was successful in implanting malware on a number of the targeted computers, "the [Special Counsel's] Office did not investigate further [and] did not, for instance, obtain or examine servers or other relevant items belonging to these victims." Instead, as Mueller writes, "The Office understands that the FBI, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the states have separately investigated that activity".

Only problem with that? As we have reported repeatedly over the past two years, Jeanette Manfra, the top DHS official in charge of overseeing cyber-intrusions of critical infrastructure such as voting and tabulation systems, conceded during a June 2017 Senate Intelligence Committee hearing to Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR) that her department had not, in fact, conducted any forensic analyses of computer voting and tabulation systems or servers following the 2016 Presidential election. We play a clip from her Senate testimony to that end.

1. That's pretty egregious. One more thing for the House to investigate.

Nice job, Mueller.

2. I want to add that even without Russian infiltration, rethug manipulation of

elections systems, elections officials existed long before this Russian problem -- think "KKKarl Rove; KKKris KKKobach; KKKatherine Harris; KKKenneth Blackkkwell, etc. right on down to people lower in the elections hierarchy and back to the era of punchcards.

3. In other words, Russia hacked our elections and put Trump and other republicans into power.

Putin wasn't there to "just look around."

6. And all those exit polls that showed HRC winning states that she "lost" were correct and ...

... she won the Presidency too.

9. Yep, and Feingold was the real winner in Wisconsin as well.

We know in in our hearts that Hillary won but we also know (gut-wrenching as it is) that nothing will ever be done about it. I wonder how HRC really feels?? And Feingold. I also think we won
the senate seat in Pennsylvania in 2016 and in 2018 we won probably both the governor and senate races in Florida.

10. and the Governor's race in Georgia in 2018 too

Ohio's 2018 election (my state) smells too ... for the #s to make sense
about 250,000 had to have voted for a liberal democrat for senate but then
turned around and voted for conservative gop folk for Governor, A.G., and
Sec. of State.

Ever since they passed HAVA (help america vote act) we have seen a "red
state trend" even though the demographics and issues are much more pro
blue.

if there wasn't at least some vote manipulation... did all those small towns in Florida really have big turnout increases and almost all for Trump?

presidential election results. Mind-boggling.

Someone??? Anyone??? Did anyone care? Was anyone scared to look? I understand Senator Skelator from Florida is now interested 2 years later and after he won by .01 percent and raised hell because Bill Nelson said the Russians had hacked some Florida machines but wasn't allowed to talk about it.

27. Every SOS is compromised. The Nat'l Assoc. of Secretaries of State is derelict in its duties to

denounce the now omnipresent non-transparent computerized voting systems that are easy to manipulate.

Any SOS who tries to decertify computerized voting and tabulation systems will find themselves subject to undue pressure.

It's also interesting to note, as I have stated in previous posts, that Facebook is a platinum corporate affiliate of NASS -- and most of the major voting machine vendors, such as ES&S, plus other data mining corporations have affiliate memberships there.

19. We need a new election system.

There isnít time before the 2020 election, but we need a self-contained system (not connected to the public internet) that still allows for automated voting, but systems that cannot be manipulated by Republican officials. Surely Silicon Valley tech whizzes could devise such a system. I do not trust any Republican Secretary of State not to cheat. I worry about 2020 because, as Trump and Russians have shown, elections can be manipulated.

21. Other advanced countries can count paper ballots & announce winner next day.

In the USA, a Presidential election can lie unresolved for weeks, despite "voting machines". The infatuation with instant results led many places to install voting machines, which are just an invitation for corruption.

It is high time American "exceptionalism" meant something other than byzantine dysfunction. At the least, the Electoral College (more like a Kindergarten) must go.

So long as there is a way to safeguard them and avoid situations like that in NCís District 9 where absentee ballots were collected and voted for Republicans or thrown away. I do not trust any Republican not to cheat. Itís built into their DNA.

28. The infatuation with instant results is one of the rethug talking points concocted to justify the

preordained plan to replace the most desirable and transparent form of voting, i.e. hand-counted-paper-ballots where your vote is secretly cast and publicly tabulated, with computerized voting machines and tabulators which are completely non-transparent, do not guarantee that the ballot is secret, and where the tabulation is done secretly rather than publicly so that you never know whether your vote was counted as cast.
