Eugene Robinson: Trump will mount this attack no matter what Democrats do.

Anyone who thinks there is a chance that Trump will lick his wounds and move on has not been paying attention. Having escaped criminal charges — because he is a sitting president — Trump will go on the offensive. With the help of Attorney General William P. Barr, whose title really should be Minister of Spin, the president will push to investigate the investigators and sell the bogus counternarrative of an attempted “coup” by politically motivated elements of the “deep state.”

Here is the important thing: Trump will mount this attack no matter what Democrats do . And strictly as a matter of practical politics, the best defense against Trump has to be a powerful offense.

1. Perhaps Dems should review Barr's 1989 lying to Congress ?

2. Mr Robinson is correct.

In fact, he is already on the offensive.

The Democrats will need much more aggressive in countering his attacks and his lies, Don't be afraid to take him to the Courts.

3. Pelosi's correct

The right approach is hearings, hearings and more hearings to establish facts that would justify impeachment to even the most unsympathetic. In the meantime, the coverage of the hearings act as "free" campaign ads, remember how effectively Trump manipulated the news cycles. The real way we remove Trump and the GOP is at the ballot box.

4. In a perfect world

But what if we don't have a chance to vote? There is NOTHING they won't do to stay in office.

6. Subpoenas will continue to be ignored.

The courts are stacked. There will be no repercussions and the hearings will then evolve into only dems telling the truth. Will repub voters listen to us? A snowball's....

I'm feeling as negative as Joy Reed was this evening. DH was saying all of this before Joy did. The only hope is if the people who used to work for tRump appear in front of committees and tell the truth. And somehow that'd be enough to turn rethugian voters.
