There is only one major story
A corrupt, inept, immoral, unfit, probably criminal, racist, ignorant cheating narcissist coordinated with foreign adversaries to gain the most powerful office in the world...then spent the last three years lying about it to literally everyone while continuing the corruption. He is still in office (or, rather, he is still golfing, eating, and tweeting on our dime).
There is no bigger, more important story...certainly not in the worlds of politics, national security, democracy. This is shocking, dangerous, historic, consequential. And the story is really just beginning.
Yet the hand-wringing by the media over any number of minor memes is ever present and consumes way too much air time. What dem has the 'impeach now' lane and which wants to wait? What dem candidate hugged someone years ago and hasn't apologized appropriately? Isn't it hypocritical if a progressive candidate has some money? Which dem isn't fundraising well? Do the dems have a serious problem with Jews? How can a white male candidate possibly beat Trump, and, how can anyone not a white male beat Trump? Should dems be careful not to overplay the impeachment card? Has Pelosi lost control of the dems? Jeez....
All the over-wrought memes or mis steps by dems over the last 10 years can't compare to daily outrages out of the White House, yet we see some kind of manufactured attempt at balanced drama...at the expense of focus, perspective, time for accurate analysis of the biggest political scandal in history. And a large chunk of the nation that watches Fox or listened to the 90% of radio air time which is RW doesn't even get the balance.
I'm with Seth Abramson who posits that our poor national understanding and ability to cope with this problem tracks back to an epic failure of media as a whole.
