(24,518 posts)So what if he's bad at it, he still worked extensively with russia and probably Israel and SA as well to steal the election, then tampered with witnesses and obstructed the investigation every way he could. He's a traitorous criminal and should be impeached so the information gets made with more explicit detail which traitor #2 (Barr) can't stop.

(4,527 posts)And he's got to go. He's a selfish, uncaring, illiterate, ignorant, dull, dangerous, narcissistic asshole. Thank you very much

(19,424 posts)Far less offensive, yet serious enough to be impeached in the House.
Yet Trump is far more a criminal in every aspect of the word. With other investigations going on, he is hardly the MORAL authority to be representing this country.

(6,536 posts)I think we open an investigation first, with the intent clearly conveyed to the public that it's to decide how to proceed with the pending impeachment--as people keep mentioning in op-eds, etc., impeachment is a political process, not a criminal one, and I wouldn't be surprised if the republican-controlled senate just stonewalled the whole thing somehow, and I sure wouldn't expect a conviction. The point as far as I'm concerned is to get all of this nastiness exposed more publicly so that it's really and truly only the most hardcore fascists who would consider voting for the asshole next time around.
E.g., I wouldn't expect impeachment to result in removal from office, but I think we need to start the process anyway, as a matter of principle, even if we slow-roll it before actually filing the articles, so we can get more and more information in the public sphere...like in 1974 or whatever.
And if something happens in the meantime that changes the situation (one too many KFC buckets, obvious incontinence and vacant-eyed drooling in the middle of some televised speech; or whatever), we will have to adapt.
I don't know, in some respects I feel like it's already too late, but we have to make at least a symbolic gesture of trying to uphold the rule of law. So yeah: impeach.

(22,976 posts)Just laugh at them. They dont give a shit, since all Republican-appointed judges will give them a pass. Or at worst, a light sentence.
Trump needs to be kept on the defensive to neutralize him as much as possible. Impeachment will guarantee that.

(12,236 posts)It could take months, or even a year or more, to get the full Mueller report. Unless the House receives it soon, I say impeachment proceedings should begin without waiting for it any longer. There's already plenty of evidence against trump in the redacted report.
If congressional Democrats are worried that impeaching trump will lose them the election, so will looking weak by doing nothing to stop him.
