Trump and the GOP are weaponizing the government against Democrats.

They have weaponized the tax code to hurt workers in blue states.

They have weaponized FEMA to hurt disaster victims in left-leaning areas.

They have weaponized ICE and are trying to weaponize refugees against sanctuary cities.

They want to weaponize the DOJ against Trump's political enemies, who are called traitors.

And it is has become very clear that they do not see as legitimate any right of a Democrat to exercise power.

At what point do we stop pretending that this is one nation, indivisible?

1. If Trump gets re-elected then the pretending is over. I can stomach a mistake in 2016

but much like "W" in 2004......who on God's Green Earth would vote for them again?

4. Trump probably will be re-elected.

His poll numbers are trending upward in places like Florida, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio. I can tell you, I live in Wisconsin and there are plenty enough Trump disciples here to carry this state again. It's not a sure thing but he will probably eke out a narrow Electoral College win like W did in '04. Then, we will have to get creative.

7. -12 in Michigan/-12 in Wisconsin/-5 in Ohio/-2 in Florida

https://www.predictit.org/markets/detail/3633/Who-will-win-the-2020-Democratic-presidential-nomination

and we don't need FL and OH.

Then, we will have to get creative.

If he wins it means the people rejected us. Creative? What are going to do? Collectively hold our breath? Let's ensure the people don't reject us at the ballot box.

15. Not arguing with your main point but Trump has surged to -6 in Wisconsin.

That's according to the latest (3 days old) Marquette University Law School poll, which is the absolute gold standard in state politics here.

I hope it doesn't happen, but I have no faith in people here to not screw themselves over yet again just to "piss off da libruls."

9. Last poll: 31% of Michiganders would vote for him again. He "won" by 10.7K votes out of 8M

He's NOT stealing Michigan again.

16. Good! You all are a lot smarter than us cheeseheads.

Trump is surging here. Apparently people ready to cut off their own noses to spite their faces again.

17. Why would they do that? Didn't they just elect a lot of Democrats in 2018?

Here's a portion of a March 2019 Detroit Free Press article that shows mango mussolini is in trouble here. He's lost Independents big time. Because of this, I suppose POtuS and his hatemongers will be infesting our state, inflicting his Nuremberg-Lite hatefests on us in the months to come. While the news is bad for him. the numbers are still way too high. WTF is the matter with people? Are they just not paying attention or do they really think this nightmare is doing a good job?!? Either way, it's shameful.

More bad news for President Donald Trump in latest Michigan poll

Todd Spangler, Detroit Free Press Published 6:00 a.m. ET March 8, 2019 | Updated 4:23 p.m. ET March 8, 2019

snip

The poll indicates that:

Nearly half, 49 percent, of respondents in Michigan say they will definitely vote to replace Trump and another 16 percent say they will consider voting for someone else. Only 31 percent said they will definitely vote to re-elect Trump.
Self-described independent voters are driving down Trump's numbers. Among independents, 44 percent say they will definitely vote for someone else and 27 percent say they will consider backing another candidate, while only 18 percent say they would definitely vote to re-elect.
Meanwhile, 57 percent of women say they will vote for someone else and 17 percent say they will consider another candidate, compared with 41 percent of men who say they will vote for someone else and 14 percent who say they will consider someone else.
And while 67 percent of Republican voters said they would vote to re-elect Trump, that is well below the 80 percent of Republicans who believe he is doing a good or excellent job as president. Seventy-four percent of Republican men say they will definitely vote to re-elect Trump, but only 59 percent of Republican women agree.

18. The problem here is the Democratic base is packed into two cities:

Madison and Milwaukee. And Milwaukee generally doesn't show up at the polls unless it's a Presidential election. Compounding this is the fact that our Republican legislature has enacted some of the worst voter suppression laws in the country.

Then, there's a ring of xenophobic rich white racist Christian assholes around Milwaukee County that show up in droves even if the only election on the ballot is for Dog Catcher. Add to that a whole bunch of idiot rednecks in the rural areas and you've got a former swing state heading for deep red. We're basically early 1980's Kansas.

3. Meanwhile, red states get less money, more uninsured,

and low paying jobs.

And blue states are pretty much thriving and finding ways to overcome and work around weaponizations.

5. Yep, that's what we need. Work-arounds.

We need creativity. I live in a red state (Wisconsin obviously) and people here are too stupid to know or care that they're getting screwed. They love their President anyway because Trump, like Scott Walker, "pisses off da libruls."

14. We did. But then we turned around and elected a new Supreme Court justice who:

believes gay marriage is the same as bestiality and is closely tied to white nationalists. He founded a Christian school that expels students if they seem like they could be gay. He is fine with white nationalism. And, he replaces the most liberal member of the court, giving the cons a 5-2 majority and cementing our gerrymandered districts for another ten years.

Eff this state.

6. and red states hold both houses of their legislatures and enough electoral votes to put him in again

They can do it again with their gerrymandering and voter suppression. They have a lock on both houses in all the big swing states of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida... If those states can purge enough democrats at the last minute before it can be rectified like it was in Georgia against Stacey, tRump wins again...

10. We should do the same

Did Republicans compromise on trying to repeal Obamacare even when they had no alternative? Bipartisanship is a child's fairy tale. You can't work with Republicans who destroy the country just to screw Democrats over. It's time to level the playing field.

11. the politics of 'compromise' are gone. We are now at war

for the future of our country. The moment we gain senate majority we must expand SC; we must be even stronger than gop and stand our ground and never look at the other side. It will be diffiult times for at least the next decade but eventually we’ll bend the other side towards the middle. GOP serves donor class, Democratic party needs to focus on lower and middle class.

In 4 years, MI will be as blue as NY or CA.

13. Like the third world-style despot he is

The very thing is happening in right-wing regimes in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and to a lesser extent Ecuador.

Suffice it to say, each of those presidents is in frequent contact with Cheeto or his people.
