VOTE HIM OUT!

If you want Donald Trump out of office, there's one sure way to do it, and only one: VOTE HIM OUT!

I don't know why that's so hard to understand. Why waste time and energy on methods that are sure not to work, when we have a tried and true, proven method for doing it?

We need to focus on what can actually get him out of office. We need to direct our attention to that and do everything in our power to convince voters to vote for the Democratic nominee for President.

Stop fighting among ourselves and choose a nominee who can attract enough votes to do the job. Then, support that nominee with everything you've got and get out the vote.

How simple is that?

VOTE HIM OUT!

1. To vote him out, we need two things:

1) We need to safeguard democratic institutions, and protect the election process from malicious interference.

2) We need to do all we can to fully reveal Trump's crimes to the voting public.

I have no quarrel with anyone who is working toward either or both of those goals.

18. If we vote, and those votes are tampered with it'll be useless.

If the outcome is skewed by Russian (or others) influence through social media and other mechanisms, it will make legitimate votes irrelevant if the minds and hearts of those voters are set to vote against a Dem. We must lay the truth bare or we are lost.

I want Russia and its interference to be dealt with just as much as everybody else here. But under Trump, it's just not gonna happen. The only choice it to vote him out in 2020.

Our members of the house and senate can and shoukd continue all avenues available to them. But us voters need to start the hard work now. We have the tools and the infrastructure to do what we need to do.

List the most vulnerable republican seats that we can take. Note their challengers and provide information on how to donate. Find active groups in those areas and make sure they are engaged and you are engaged if you are in the area.

List our most vulnerable seats and make sure that we are doing everything we can to protect them.

There is so much to start doing that if we roll over by being overwhelmed we will not get started early enough.

22. Is that even possible? It seems voting laws change on a whim in red states...

that out number blue states overwhelmingly. Look what they did in Georgia where everyone could see right before their eyes what was going on. They stole the election from Stacey and there was nothing that could be done about it. Look at North Carolina, caught red handed in election fraud, not voter fraud, but election fraud. What happens? A do over and only the lackey probably going to jail. The seat will probably go to the Republican that was cheated out of the seat in the primary. The Republicans hold the keys to the elections in 32 states. It appears they hold the electoral votes to win the election just with the states where they hold both houses of their state legislatures. It may not be possible to VOTE HIM OUT! if they start their last minute voter purge efforts where it will be too late to do anything again (according to court rulings). Think about it.

I wouldn't put it past Red States trying to use it to suppress the vote. GOTV
is necessary but vigilance before the election and at the polling place is necessary
to assure the votes will be allowed and counted correctly.

24. Conservatives used this argument to vote him in

I constantly see remarks by conservatives that they didn't really like Trump, but the selection of Hilary by the Dems LET THEM NO CHOICE. So, they didn't vote for third party candidates (Sanders), they didn't stay home, they voted for Trump. Until Democrats have this philosophy, they will be the majority that gets minority representation. Like it or not, we have a two party system and one party has become pure evil. Whoever the Dems nominate, that is the alternative to Trump. Get behind them, back them, canvas for them, give them money and VOTE FOR THEM.

I'd be all over it, but it would not do that. The House is investigating. Good. Bring out the truth and lay it out for people to see. But the Senate will not remove Trump, so impeachment is a waste of time that could be used to run investigations and publish the results.

I'm not discouraging anything. I'm pointing out facts. If you can refute those facts, I'm all ears.

33. Impeachment is not a waste of time. It is an opportunity to lay the evidence on the

table for all to see. If that evidence shows a conspiracy with russia and/or a case for obstruction of justice, then let every Senator log his/her vote and let the chips fall where they may.

Impeachment is IMPERATIVE for the sake of history and the historical record!

If he is found, by a preponderance of the evidence, to be guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors, and some Senators refuse to impeach, then so be it! We're no further at a loss than we are right now. Because it will be obvious to all, should the evidence show guilt, that the repug senators are to blame for a failure to impeach, not Democrats'.

And if the evidence shows innocence (yea, right! ), then the damage from Democrats from an acquittal will be mitigated by Democratic Senators voting with repugs to acquit leaving Democrats able to righteously claim that, in the end, they were fair to tRump and voted to acquit.

35. The House can lay the evidence on the table in any case.

That's what it's working on right now in its committees. The Trump Administration is balking at supplying what the House wants. That is going to involve processes and take some time. It's also going to take considerable care to avoid making mistakes that make it possible for the administration to successfully withhold evidence.

It's easy for us out here to make demands, but unless we're sitting in the House of Representatives, we have no authority to do a damned thing. You want to run those investigations? Run for a seat in the House. As an alternative, communicate with your current representative and tell him or her what he or she should do. Make your case to them. I can't do anything about it, nor can anyone else on DU.

Run for office. Get elected.

55. You're right.Impeachment makes him accountable. Gives Congress massive powers

to get all the information Trump is trying so hard to hide. Presidents need to be held accountable as a precedent for future presidents that they are not above the law. Impeachment would make Trump publicly accountable so if he is not convicted in the senate he will not win the next election and the repub senators who fail to convict will also be seen as accomplices. Right now the repub senate is rejecting all legislation out of the House. Besides we can walk and chew gum at the same time. The world would look at us as if we will get our sanity back. Impeachment for Trump is necessary. He is by far the most corrupt president we've ever had. There is no excuse for not impeaching him. It cost us the House when Pelosi refused to impeach Bush/Cheney who were never held accountable for the millions they harmed based on lies. Now we have thousands of abused children held in cages from a fascist inept PINO. He must be stopped now. Impeachment will drive him over his own wall. We must not worry about conviction at this point but is is the duty of the House to impeach now

48. Except that with a impeachment judicial investigation, his tax returns and Mueller report are

available to Democrats as part of the process, according to what I've read. Not "negotiating with Barr", no more stalling and delays, no more potential adjudicating in the courts. The House gets these key potential pieces of evidence when instituting impeachment proceedings.

That's huge, especially since we are running out of time for this remedy.

The full Mueller report could be released — if the House opens preliminary impeachment hearings

Congress needs to act now- start by impeaching Mnuchin and Barr, then move to Trump.

Make the Republicans vote on the record for every step of obstruction and destruction they wish to take.

This will provide more power to VOTE THEM ALL OUT in 2020- we need a blue wave in the senate!

41. Those impeachments will not result in removal. None of them.

And that failure would result in even higher Republican turnout in 2020. The election will be held. That's also a constitutional thing. The people are the final check and balance in the Constitution. The House needs to help lay out the facts, and they're working on getting those facts right now. What can we do? Build up enthusiasm among our own voters, including those who have failed to turn out in the past. Including, also, those who held their noses and voted for Trump. A lot of them are sorry they did that now. We can get them to vote for our candidate or, as an alternative, to stay home next November.

Government in the United States is a long game. We need to design a strategy for that long game. We have less than two years to put that strategy into play. We need to make sure we call the right plays as the game proceeds.

The House of Representatives COULD impeach him but the Senate would not convict. He could be indicted but he would never be arrested or brought to trial.

We can shake our fists angrily about how the Russians surreptitiously influenced the last election, which they did, but that cannot be undone now. There's no mechanism for a 2016 re-do, as much as we might wish there were.

Trump's cabinet will not now, nor will they ever invoke the 25th Amendment.

But we can ,as you said, vote him out. It's the only way.

money laundering, and countless other laws he has broken including obstruction. Impeachment proceedings gives massive investigative authority to congress to get all the info Trump is fighting so desperately to hide. It also reigns in Presidential power but most importantly it will publicly expose Trump so he will lose the election even if the repubs in the senate fail to convict. Plus it will paint these same repubs as accomplices and corrupt for their failure to convict. It's a win-win and throws a wrench into this insane fascist agenda Trump is initiating. We must impeach now or get stuck with another Trump in the future who believes they are above the law.

47. U can't be that naive. We never voted him in, the electoral college did

Bush was installed by the SC even though months later it was proven that Gore actually won after all the votes in Florida were counted even after 10,000 African American voters had been illegally purged from the voting rolls. But most importantly, Trump must be held accountable for breaking the law. Too many times we have allowed Presidents to act as if the law does not apply to them. We didn't hold them accountable allowing the next president to feel they could do the same. Yes we want him gone but not because we don't like him or because we disagree with his policies but because he has broken many laws and must be held accountable. You wouldn't let a murderer off the hook by saying "just move him to another state" (Extreme example but you get the point )
Another thing, we don't know how much more damage Trump may do if he is not confronted now since he has begun instructing border guards to ignore the law, to ignore the judges, same with his AG and the IRS, and the treasury sec to disregard the law.
We must impeach now before this turns into a dictatorship.

61. Impeachment wouldn't stop Trump, just infuriate and energize

those who voted for him. In their minds it'd just be a shabby political gesture that onfirmed all their delusions about unprincipled Democrats, and their satisfied anger would significantly raise Trump's support and further empower his evil deeds.

As for the removal that would stop him, that is not possible while the Republicans control the senate and until they decide to act.

Understandable that you're frustrated, but let's not be silly. If you voted Democrat in 2016 and 2018, at least like the rest of us you've done all you can until our turn at bat comes up again in 2020. If not, well try to imagine just how frustrated our leaders who thought they'd be controlling the senate and WH have been. Considering all their wonderful plans for the future, and what they have to watch happening instead, it's truly a wonder none of them have broken and started screaming at those who didn't for their great moral failures.

49. On the hand, there is clearly open criminal behavior...

...going on.

The Israeli election shows the power of openly corrupt people to convince majorities, not that Trump has ever been a majority figure but is in office because of a constitutional artifact of slavery.

However, the sanctity of the rule of law is in play here, the future. This is not a political campaign purely. It is rather the greatest threat to our democracy since the Civil War.

50. And then what?

Obama won by 10 million votes in 2008 and we still played defense against the Republicans (or waited in vain for the reasonable ones to show up). How about we try something new and treat every day as a political death match, you know, the way they do against us, the difference being we actually have popular opinion on our side. And righteousness, starting with that thing politically timid folks are loath to touch with a ten-foot pole: impeaching the motherfucker.

52. We lost by less than 90,000 votes, spread across three states in 2016.

And now you're attacking President Obama? Really. Screw that noise. Truly! Plus, I haven't seen your screen name around here much since November of 2016. So, what's that about?

62. Amen brother.

We also need to identify the non-voters and get them engaged in the process. A lot are young, many Black I'm thinking and all whoever they are, need to know they can actually make a big difference.

Just look how close it was in a significant number of states.

63. We need to get rid of his enablers too, like Mitch McConnell.
