Some dude was arrested for burglarizing cars in the jail parking lot just after being released from jail.
In our defense, we do have over 20 million people here. There is bound to be some oddballs. Believe it or not, we also have a vibrant open records law, so the press get stories like the above instead of being stonewalled.

to seek a sure thing over how scary poverty and deprivation is in the "real" world.
Some become institutionalized and some just know what the odds are once they are out.
I don't know why he did it. I just know it probably wasn't as simple as being stupid.

(31,261 posts)He had to know that he was definitely going to get collared and end up back in jail. So he likely chose the best of several options for him. A sad indictment of what our society has become.

(31,261 posts)asking for money. We have LOTS of homeless people here. I made light of his situation, but on reflection, he could be homeless and realize that at least in jail he gets three meals a day, a bath, clothes and a warm or cool place to sleep and is out of the rain.

My favorite still. Florida Man arrested for drunk driving says..I never drank when I was driving, I just drank at stop lights.

(31,261 posts)Sad, but true, Florida has a lot of chronically poor people. Many other people like hand to mouth. When you hear a radio commercial say that if a person makes $250 per week after taxes they can qualify to buy a new car, you KNOW that something is wrong, then you use your eyes to look around at people's economic conditions.
