The end of special counsel Robert Muellers investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election has lifted a large cloud over the White House, with President Donald Trump touting the reports conclusions as a complete and total exoneration.
The Mueller report was great, Trump told reporters Tuesday at the Capitol. It could not have been better.
A new Morning Consult/Politico survey conducted after Attorney General William Barr released his summary of Muellers findings shows a negligible immediate effect on how the public views the president.
The March 25-26 survey found 42 percent of voters approve of the president and 55 percent disapprove a net approval rating 13 percentage points underwater and virtually identical to the poll conducted the week before.

(99,708 posts)It doesn't state we have seen the actual report. It actually polled Americans to measure what percentage of Americans want to see the actual report.

(58,785 posts)We know that.
But that does invite the question of whether we would be better or seriously worse off if he were removed and replaced with President Pence. Trump is not the monster under the bed -- those using him as best they can to gain enough power to take over are. Pence is both one of them and a far more reliable tool.
Everyone should remember that, since they cannot gain and keep power through the vote, they must gain control of our courts, including SCOTUS, to bulldoze over the will of the people and then take control of federal and red-state elections.
And that almost every harm he does to our nation tends to work again them and for us.

(99,708 posts)That's why there were so many posts on this board that it was a disaster for us and he was on his way to "winning forty states."
The poll suggests people don't care. Most Americans still don't like him. His approval rating is inelastic. It is largely unaffected by events, positive or negative.

The entire planet knows Trump is working to benefit Russia at the expense of the U.S.
We have very good reason to believe, including evidence, that Trump did either conspire or fall to blackmail, or both, but he may have reached that agreement, for instance, before he ever declared he would run and started gathering a staff together. Whatever.
We'd be in much worse shape if we hadn't gotten a majority in the house, but we did.

(58,785 posts)that the Mueller investigation EXONERATED Trump. 60 Minutes and Scot Pelley, traitors.
I hope this wakes more people up on the right and left to the realization that 2020 won't be about what kind of national healthcare system we have but rather about whether we'll ever have one. Or even Social Security and Medicare. Or even the power of a vote that matters. Or even civil rights currently protected by the constitution that are currently hanging on one more extremist conservative appointment.

(99,708 posts)On Sunday there were threads how this was a disaster for the Democrats, Trump was on his way to a 40 state landslide, and his 2020 victory was assured.
Even looking at the Barr Summary in its best possible light for Trump it moved his poll numbers not a whit.

(58,785 posts)masquerading as anger have me misreading. Yes, that is very telling. I bet it's made him very angry and cut the celebrating of others very short.
It'd be interesting to know who besides 60 Minutes have outed themselves trying unsuccessfully to spin this for the right. We no longer watch PBS evening news after they outed themselves during some earlier news event. Judy Woodruff and Scott Pelley; sigh, such nice faces they have.
