The senate was the key to the puzzle. Keep one branch of the legislature in your pocket and the other doesn't matter. Keep your people in key positions in various governmental agencies and the agencies don't matter.

Just wait until trump's next nazi-themed reelection rally and you'll get a peak at the future whether you choose to look the other way or not.
