Why be depressed and disheartened?
Here's why:
US reacts to end of Mueller probe with relief, skepticism By MATT SEDENSKY yesterday "PHILADELPHIA (AP) — With the long-awaited special counsel’s investigation finished but its contents still shrouded in mystery, Americans waited for details, yawned with boredom or stayed fixed to their long-cemented positions on President Donald Trump, the man at the probe’s center. For all the expected splash of Robert Mueller’s report, it arrived with more of a thud, thanks to the secrecy surrounding it. Few saw reason to think it would sway many opinions in a divided republic. ... “Now maybe we can move on to better things,” said Bubba Metts, a 61-year-old conservative who is a financial adviser in Lexington, South Carolina. “Twenty million dollars spent — for nothing.” Dajah Harris, 21, a college senior at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, is a Democrat and no fan of Trump. But she saw the investigation as a distraction from more important things like homelessness, college debt and welfare programs. The country should never have elected someone, she said, whose background raises such questions." Read the rest: https://www.apnews.com/a347bfa2b2d043c28589c8c99eb9ced2 Nothing changes. The story line is now complete. This nonsense of SDNY or anyone else picking up the ball is all pipe dreams. The federal case was the key. The gop and trump's control of government and the courts as well as the cult-like supporter from the magats will negate anything SDNY or anyone else tries to do. They'll just be seen as those liberals trying to derail trump with another "witch hunt" again. It's mueller time. lofl - no wonder trump never fired mueller - he was trump's man on the inside all along.

Neither the cherry picking reference or the idea I "found you" 2 months ago. I "found you" long ago. Probably been a Democrat longer than most people here have been alive.
I'm just pointing out that, just like the kavanaugh sham, mueller has now given trump and the gopricks a story line, an allegory. Now they stick to the script until it's widely accepted, you know, one of those things "everybody knows". The repubicans are very good at this. It works for them every time. |

47. Because the net effect of the 2 year mueller investigation
And the dud of a final release emboldens trump and his magats to no end. They now have a narrative - it really was all a witch hunt - and they don't have any of the evidence to derail their illusions and they never will because the narrative just became the report.
We'll never see the full report. Only that which exculpates trump and supports the repubican narrative. If mueller had dropped a bombshell, which, be honest, everyone was expecting from this investigation based on the facts we could ascertain just from news sources, witnesses, convicted felons cooperating with the "investigation" - then how the hell did we wind up with this DUD? That's why mueller was trump's guy inside all along. trump never fired mueller. We only got exciting stories about possible maybe thinking about firing but somehow he never pulled the trigger like he did with comey, for example. Because they all knew it would be a dud from the beginning. Hey, it's a way better explanation than some of the continuing fantasies about SDNY and such picking it up from here. ![]() ![]() You know, everyone expected heads to roll and all we got were some small fish. 56. You know, much as I hate to say this, it is POSSIBLE ... that it's a 'dud' because Trump didn't
actually conspire with Russians. Or at the very least, not 'guilty enough' to bring charges, based on the current status of our laws.
I mean, he's definitely guilty of all sorts other illegal shit, but it's not inconceivable Mueller did all he could, conducted himself honorably, and the evidence for him conspiring ... simply wasn't there in the needed volume and specificity. I mean, it sucks to ponder, and it IS going to have all sorts of negative ramifications if so, as you suggest. And I've NO DOUBT that people AROUND Trump conspired with Russians to help him win the election ... but the state of the laws may legitimately be such that there's not all that much that can legally be 'done to them' for their actions, hence Mueller not bringing charges for conspiracy. As such, I'm not going to immediately assume Mueller must've been 'bought out' if he more or less exonerates Trump personally. It's POSSIBLE ... it's just the reality of the situation. And I say that as someone who's paid attention to damn near EVERYTHING that's been published in this case. |

Here is the truth, lebowski, my favorite movie hero.
https://www.democraticunderground.com/10142291603#post5 Russian Interference in the 2016 U.S Presidential Election. "The Special Counsel's investigation did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russian in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election. As the report states: "[T]he investigation did not establish that members of the Trump Campaign conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in its election interference activities." 1 1 In assessing potential charges, the Special Counsel also considered whether members of the "Trump campaign "coordintated with Russian election interference activities. The Special Counsel defined "coordination" as an "agreement -- tacit or express -- between the Trump Campaign and the Russian govermnet on election interference." I'm still reading the rest of barr's garbage but you get the gist, I'm sure: We are all well and truly fucked. The investigation is and always was a sham. We need to take BOTH houses of congress and The White House in 2020 and not by bullshit blue dog reducible margins - by VETO PROOF MARGINS - if we have any hope of circumventing what now appears to be the inevitable. 52. If nunes says burn it up
Based on what nunes has been able to get away with so far without ANY repercussions, it will in all likelihood be burned up.
Because nunes heard that from trump and it looks like donnie boy is going to get everything he wants again. Little wonder he's so fucked up in the head. He hasn't had a rude awakening in his entire life. trump is george w bush on steroids. Remember when, even in the face of overwhelming evidence, we were all called "bush bashers" for pointing out the truth? And nothing was done? And bush is now painting his toes in a bathtub somewhere while trump makes him look good by comparison? Yeah. It's like that. On steroids. |

39. If the report exonerated Trump that would already have been released
If the report exonerated Trump that would already have been released.
There is no way that it would remain quiet for the entire weekend. The longer it goes the worse it looks for trump. I think Trump is actually down in Maralago with other Rs trying to figure out what to do next. To many people caught up in the "No further Indictments thing" when Mueller wasnt going to indict the president in the first place because of DOJ policies. |

51. Mueller wasnt going to indict the president
There are people involved other than "the *fake* president" - mueller wasn't going to indict ANYONE.
Don Jr. Eric Ivanka Jeff Sessions Rudy Ghouliani Matthew Whitaker You get the idea. There were plenty of names and plenty of evidence but no indictments other than a few low hanging lackeys who are going to get light sentences and pardons. This is the best way to relieve pressure on "Individual 1" - by releasing a dud of a report with no further indictments recommended so the pressure is off everyone who might be involved because they now have the imprimatur of reasonable doubt. "If mueller didn't recommend any further indictments then it was just a witch hunt!" - magat motto for 2020 Thanks bob mueller. You're a real American hero. |

40. "20 million dollars spent on nothing", a right-wing lament often heard on TV.
I wonder, how much was spent on Whitewater, Watergate, eMails, Benghazi, the Warren report?
Whitewater gave us absolutely nothing about Whitewater, but gave us some entertainment about an unrelated affair. Watergate? Ok, money well spent. eMails? Benghazi? Yeah, but it doesn't count when Republicans are the ones spending the money. But, to be fair, $20 million is a lot of money, it could have been spent on a few more golf outings for Trump. |

a personal attack so you can report me.
Been there. Known that. I'm the least gleeful person here because I recognize the truth. For your part, delusion is its own form of glee, I suppose. |

69. Sorry to say I told you so
But I told you so.
"...no wonder trump never fired mueller - he was trump's man on the inside all along." I got a lot of flack for posting stuff like this and saying things like 'we can't trust mueller because he's a repubican and you can never trust a repubican' - but there doesn't seem to be much flack left today after barr's latest contribution to our new dear leader's dictatorship. Maybe now that we all realize we've been had, we can get angry and get something done about this travesty. |
