The fuck who did this had a camera on him and live-streamed his actions to Facebook. The video is being shared on all the usual social media platforms.

(118,489 posts)for the warning. Vibes to the people of New Zealand and the Muslim communities affected. I for one will complain to any web host that offers a link to the footage. All one can do.

(234 posts)One of the most horrible things I've ever seen.
Cold calculated. Body armor. Many AR type assault rifles with words scribbled all over them on the passenger seat of a car.
Drives up to a Mosque. Gets out, Starts shooting at anyone/everyone he sees as he walks thru the Mosque.
Nightmare. Of the worst kind.

(7,241 posts)It's horrible and I am stunned and devastated and angry. That being said I think the video needs to go on the news. People need to see this to understand what these guns let people do. The absolute power over multiple lives they give one person. Maybe then people will change, maybe, possibly, hopefully.
It's time that gun humpers see what their vicious little toys do.
I saw horrific images of Vietnam on TV before I was 12. 6:00 news. A Buddhist monk set himself on fire. Battles in jungle clearings. A prisoner shot in the head. Seeing the horror of the war was part of what finally brought it to an end.
As horrible as pictures of victims and even a massacre in real time are, they are probably what will get the complacent to wake up to the hell on earth that guns cause.

(33,992 posts)It looks unreal to me - like it is part of a shoot-em-up game. Partly the poor quality of the video, but I don't thing it is graphic enough to be an effective wake-up call

(7,681 posts)And I agree with you. These things should be seen. I get what people are saying when they say don't give the guy fame..etc, but imo it's important that this is seen. It does feels kind of wrong to watch it but at the same time it almost feels wrong not to..
Horrific.

(7,241 posts)And that is an understatement. Those were living breathing people. But I agree, I felt an obligation to watch it. Information is knowledge. I know more than I want to now about this. And that is the way something so horrific should be. It should be life changing. It was for all of them in an instant. It is for me.

(47,260 posts)That is the only way some people will get a clue what 21st century gun violence is. Of course, the flip side is some people might become desensitized to the horror. I don't know the answer, but I have a feeling that most people can't begin to visualize the brutality of these mass shootings with today's assault rifles with high capacity magazines.

(49,945 posts)Why did the shooter record it in the first place? It's likely the shooter wanted like-minded people to see it.

(14,488 posts)have requested people not watch it. I will not watch out of respect for the victims.
Knowing the internet, it's already spread and there will be blowback, perhaps involving copycats......
BTW, four people have been arrest to date - three men and one woman.
