19. You made me realize that in three months we'll have to start preparing for

the hurricanes. That said give me a hurricane over a tornado every day of the week. I like advanced notice

20. Very true.

Hurricane season is coming and you do have advanced notice. Hopefully it is a calm hurricane season, but I suspect it won’t be given the wild and wacky weather so far this year.

21. We haven't had a really bad one since 1988

All now we wonder how Ivan missed us and so did Matthew - both were heading our way. Parts of the island have been hit but nothing like Gilbert - that was wild.

3. The tornado passed just to the west of where I live. This is REALLY scary!

Houses flattened in the Vernon area (west of Flint). The tornado warning is canceled, for Genesee County, and we're under a severe thunderstorm watch. But they said this could fire up, again, at any time.

I've moved all of my important paperwork to the basement, along with candles, matches, flashlights, blankets and water. Hopefully I'll be lugging everything back up, in a few hours.

Now if I can just get my heart rate back down.

5. No tornado I have heard of down here yet, Siwsan.

Glad you are safe! Hope no one was hurt or killed out by Vernon.

We had a warning down here in Washtenaw County. Sirens going off everywhere.

7. Hope this isn't a sign of what kind of a Spring we'll be experiencing!

Things are most definitely much quieter, right now, but still some bright lightning and very loud thunder.

12. Ick

I was born in the aftermath of one of the top 10 most deadly tornadoes, to hit the country. One would think this would be second nature weather, to me!

22. Would that be the Beecher Tornado?

Those 2 words get a Flintite's attention - even those who weren't born yet.

26. My parents had a friend who lost his entire family in that tornado.

His child, wife (who was expecting their second) and a niece.

The storm left concrete slabs swept clean as if nothing had stood there.

So tragic. My mom, who was 11 years old and living in the city of Flint on that day, remembers the oppressive humidity, the color (green) and the feeling of foreboding. My grandmother said, "Something terrible is about to happen."

27. I know about that tragedy

Every time I go to the cemetery, the grave(s) I am there to visit are just a few steps away from theirs. It is jarring to see them and it affects me every time just as much as my own loved ones.

25. Yep.

Just when I thought I would never get cats again - I want to travel - freedom from cat litter, etc etc

My neighbor goes and gets 2 kittens to be "outdoor" cats to mouse his garage. Of course he doesn't take care of them because he is always sleeps at his girlfriends house. He provided NO SHELTER for them during the winter. We made heated houses for the poor little guys and started feeding them on a regular basis. T

Then a GORGEOUS mature cat shows up at my door. I tried finding his owner - he had no chip, I called the shelters, posted ads around town, posted on nextdoorneighbor,......

Sigh....

Ya, I have 3 cats.

13. Is this due to the "cyclone bomb"

or is this not too rare for the area at this time of year?

17. I think it's the cyclone.

When I looked at GOES pictures yesterday, it looked exactly like a cyclone.

I cannot remember having a tornado warning in early March in MI. 50+ years old. Def weird shit here.

24. Tornado reported in East Alabama.

On the radar, it appeared to be located about 25-30 miles northwest of where that killer one hit a few days ago.
