The people who cheated to get their children into college should fund other students' educations.

I believe in restorative justice.

I think the parents who scammed and lied and cheated to get their children into colleges should have to listen to the stories of students who got waiting listed but not ultimately accepted, and have to set aside at least as much as the cost of their own children's educations plus the amount they paid to cheat to fund the educations of other, less privileged students.

1. This story is largely symbolic

But it's not going to go away. Regular people are sick and tired of hearing about how there is a different set of rules for the rich. It's a rigged system in every way and it's rigged for people like Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, and other rich families.

The insider's deal has replaced the American Dream. A certain segment of society is playing a rigged system so failure isn't a risk. Look no further than our President to find the greatest example of failure and stupidity being rewarded. Donald trump was a poor student who once punched a female teacher in the face, rather than face expulsion and real consequences, his daddy fixed things for him by donating money. He went to the "right" prep school to get into an elite university, but even that was something he screwed up and had to go to a less prestigious college before his daddy made a big donation to get him into Wharton. While at Wharton he paid to have his homework done and his papers written, his daddy gave him a $30 Million line of credit to party with. He graduated in the lower 3rd of his class with a lesser degree than he claims. He then borrowed money and used his daddy's name to secure credit to start buying real estate. When his father died he inherited several hundred million dollars in real estate. And despite being born on 3rd base while being waved home, he still failed at business and turned his business empire more into a series of scams than actual legitimate businesses.

For people like Trump, failure was never a risk, he always had his father's fortune to rescue him and when that ran out he asked the tax payers to bail him out several times with bankruptcies so he could continue his lavish life style.

That's the world the rich live in, no consequences for poor behavior, no risk of failure, in the end it's all rigged to turn out well for them whether they work hard or not.

2. I think you are spot on.

The story is probably everywhere because people click on it. It's a money maker for media outlets because people want to see the wealthy who abuse their privilege get their comeuppance.

3. The irony of Trump

He got elected in part because he talked about a "rigged system" when that rigged system was rigged for him. And he attacked Bill and Hillary who both came from little and actually had to work hard to achieve what they did.

We need a candidate who's not afraid to call it like he sees it in regards to the system being rigged for people like Trump. That's what Americans are sick of, people like Trump getting away with murder their whole lives because they come from money.
