I think it wasn't just Ilhan Omar, but we all learned a valuable lesson today

It's perfectly OK, presidential even, to talk about a Jewish man, and you are told he is Jewish, who buys up elections, pays women to accuse Supreme Court nominees of sexual assault and could discredit themselves in the process if they as much as say 'uh' in their testimony, who pays kids to say they don't want to be shot in school, pays for migrant caravans to walk on foot (But not for airplane tickets for some reason), funds some sort of "antifa supersoldier" project, and I think you can even get away with saying he was Hitler's boss...

But just don't leave the subject of that one man, don't talk about any other individual or group (Unless that group is liberals or GLBTQ people then go at it).

Freshman mistake, she violated our government's Emmanuel Goldstein rule... keep it individual.

1. We will see if it was "just" a freshman mistake, or she walks back her stereotype implication that

questions Congressional Jews loyalty

2. There was no such implication.

"accurately describing how the Israel lobby works is not anti-Semitism."

3. Then why did she "unequivocally" apologize for it? She suggested that members of Congress are paid

by Israel's powerful allies to support the Jewish state, and she REALIZED the error in that statement.

"It is all about the Benjamins"

Not that much different then when Trump I n 2016 had a "Star of David' tweet with a graphic that included dollar bill"

I give Representative Omar credit for quickly realizing the inappropriateness of her tweet.

Good for her

4. No error in the statement, that members of congress are paid by allies to support Israel.

'Anti-semitism is real . . . My intention is never to offend . . . That is why I unequivocally apologize.

I reaffirm the problematic role of lobbyists in our politics.'

15. Her implication was obvious

She wrote it was ALL about the Benjamin's. That's not why they support Israel. The same woman who claimed Israel was hypnotizing the world meant what she wrote, knows she fucked up and apologized for it. I would never presume to tell African Americans what should offend them and I would appreciate the same courtesy when it comes to Jews. Very easy to say bibi is an asshole who has been horrible for Israel and the religious freaks there have far more power than their numbers deserve without engaging in bigoted tropes. I just did it.

5. And hopefully, if she is going to talk about "Jewish" AND "Influence"...

It will only be about The One Jew who funds everything from black people saying their lives matter, to the Southern Poverty Law Center, and kids saying they don't want to be shot in school.

I mean, this is what we're going to hear in a week, right from our government about how our Emmanuel Goldstein is funding some cause they don't like, and nobody's going to bat an eye over it.

6. AIPAC is a lobbying group, and does NOT donate to politicians, not unlike The Arab Lobby. AIPAC is

NOT a PAC, which may confuse some because they see "PAC" in the AIPAC name

The PAC stands for American-Israel Public Affairs Committee. It is an American lobbying group

As an aside, I do not belong or contribute to AIPAC, nor do I agree with a lot of their views, but when she tweeted in the same context "It is all about the Benjamins", it was definitely an association with Jews/money/and paying off Congress people

She apologized because she recognized exactly what the tweet meant

10. Yeah that. Or maybe for another reason.

Maybe because someone explained to her that most Americans, including a huge majority of democrats realize Israel, even at their shittiest, which they have been for 20 years now, are a shit ton better than even their best neighbor.

I am disgusted by many of Israelís policies. But cant forget that through out my life time they are surrounded by much larger countries who want them gone. And who given the opportunity would happily finish the work Hitler started. Why do I think that? They say so! Proudly!

Thatís why I miss President Obamaís policy of causious support and had Hillary won think Israel would have been forced to moderate the worst of their behavior. And hopefully a Democratic President in 2020 will restart that policy rather than letting the worst of them run amuck.

11. I think one of those neighbors (Saudi Arabia) has actually attacked Omar

Yes, here it is...

https://foreignpolicy.com/2018/12/11/saudi-arabia-declares-war-on-americas-muslim-congresswomen/

As I said, it freshman/rookie mistake, if she wants to talk about "Secret Influence and Jewish person buying people off", then she should have talked about George Soros, who is apparently our government's Emmanuel Goldstein. That's OK... for some reason.

12. Yeah, got it. Your hung up on the right's hate of Soros.

Donít forget to throw in Alinski, although he died 46 years ago. We got it. The right hates Jews.

But why are you even bringing it up in this discussion. Maybe as a distraction from what she said?

I am old enough to realize the left can be anti-Semitic as well.

No fan of current Israel policy here. But if you are hoping that Democrats in general are going to leave Israel to all the wolves in their neighborhood you are sadly mistaken.

I could give a shit about SA. They, like trump look for a means to the end.

Get back with me when you see SA, Egypt, or any other country in they region openly tell the world and their subjects, not citizens, that Israel has a right to exist. I will not hold my breath.

13. Because in a week, we will hear how The One Jew is responsible for all the ills in this country

And nobody's going to bat an eye over it.

Black people having the audacity to say their lives matter? They can't actually be doing that of their own volition, God no, that has to be our government's Emmanuel Goldstein behind it.

Kids saying they don't want to be shot in school? How horrible... that they are saying that, must be him putting them up to it.

I don't want Israel thrown to the wolves, definitely not. I am fine with Israel defending itself from groups like Hamas or Hezbollah as much as I am fine with Palestinian self-determination and I also recognize that despite the authoritarian Netanyahu regime, Israel is still a very progressive country. For me, this is a lot more personal. I'm cursed with an eidetic memory, soundbites don't phase me and I can remember things people said almost word for word years ago, I actually think it's where a lot of my left wing politics comes from, I recognize unfair things over a span of years and contradictions said by people in power, and let me tell you something, it's not enjoyable.

I'm hung up on this because I'm going to remember this whether I want to or not... the response to Ilhan Omar today and I will have no choice to compare it to the things people have said about The One Jew over the past few months and have gotten away with it, from Trump on down. So I'm making it a special project to make sure people remember along with me because I'm tired of hearing one thing in my ears and remembering something else in my head all by myself.

14. Hillary was a bit more pro-Israel than Obama was though

Not that Obama wasn't pro-Israel, he was. Like you said though, his policy was "cautious support." Hillary has always been staunchly pro-Israel, much in the same vein as her husband. This is not a knock on her in any way, I'm just pointing out the differences.
