My GOD. I couldn't be prouder of House Democrats right now.

I know itís just a simple appreciation OP but watching them kicking ass and taking names and brooking NONE of Whitakerís bullshit runaround makes me feel like weíre being heard like we havenít for two long years. May this be the opening of a very wide door!

Itís like water to this thirsty soul.

31. I know how Jerry Nadler does it

Jerry is extremely smart and extremely patient. He has waited many years squirming as ranking member on that committee, just WAITING for the day when he could sit in the chairman's seat. That moment has now come, and he will now make the Republicans squirm just as long as he can, and he will do nothing to jeopardize his position or his ability to do that.

He can skewer Republicans verbally and leave them far more damaged than if he had used a samurai sword or a machete.

9. It's very encouraging to see Congress do it's oversight job for the first time in two years but,

if Whitaker were testifying under a subpoena he would've been held in contempt of Congress by now and arrested, watching him dodge every question and run out the clock is tiresome. He needs to be in handcuffs for obvious contempt.

16. Holder was in contempt of Congress but was not prosecuted,

if prosecuted Whitaker, who is only the acting AG (and doing a poor job of acting the part) could face consequences for failure to answer questions. The US Attorney for the District of Columbia would handle that proceeding.

18. They aren't going to do that

There is a reason why people need to be really really really really really really careful with arresting high-level political figures. Once you start down that path, you become South America very quickly.

19. What the DOJ needs to be really really careful about is not declaring the Legislative branch to be

in effect powerless to compel witness testimony. Arresting a high-level (acting AG) politician is a small price to pay next to starting a Constitutional crisis.

This was some awesome questioning and they didn't let the dickheaf just filibuster his way through. I'm sure he can get his sorry ass back to Iowa and start some more business ventures like his failed apartment renovation or his failed cement business. Maybe Alex Jones is looking for a new attorney. when he brought up his US attornry experience it was too bad there wasn't time to explore his record of abusing the power of his office.

23. Without a doubt! And WE made it happen. You, me and the American people voting for dems!

.@tedlieu asked a simple yes/no question: "There's no sentence in the U.S. Constitution that says the sitting president of the United States cannot be indicted, correct?"

Whitaker refuses to answer.

I think I would have said, "If you can't say 'yes' or 'no' I'm going to assume you simply haven't read the Constitution and don't know the answer. Have you read the Constitution? Do you just not know what is in it?"

24. As good a job as our Dems did, they are weak compared to what they'd get from me and

from every single activist with whom I am aligned to defeat the enemy republicans here in north Texas.

There was too much filibustering and obfuscation from Whitaker and while some members were indeed elevated by their calling out of this tactic, I feel he got away with too much. Also, why can't our Dems take just a few seconds to counter the ridiculous crap coming from the republican enemies just as we citizens are doing while shouting the obvious responses at our devices?

I mean, we have the gavel, for f sake! I want the ferocity and don't-give-a-shit that rivals honey badger, not bloodless paw strikes from a de-clawed house cat. I want them to project the rage that we all have been feeling as this nightmare continues, ad infinitum!

However, it has been EIGHT years since the Dems have controlled the house: From 2011 it was John Boehner, then Cubby Ryan.
It's been a long dry spell!

I just donít have the stomach to turn over there but I can imagine a major indignation fit going on. How dare those Democrats attack Whitaker! We are the only ones that get to attack ! How come they are not backing down?

35. As I understand it, this was just a "preliminary" hearing

Whitaker was acting like a dick because he could get away with it this time. Next time he'll be under subpoena, and it's going to be a whole different story. Any refusal to answer questions and he's off to jail, next time!

Stay tuned folks.
