Think "Socialist" Programs are Un-American?

That's fine. Just give up your
Social Security
Medicare
stop driving on public roads and highways
take your kids out of public schools
never call the police or fire department
don't use the Postal Service
don't flush your toilet into the sewer system...

...Oh, and get off the Internet, 'cuz the U.S. government created that too!

Lawrence O'Donnell (who used to claim to be a socialist but I haven't heard him say that lately) did a good clip tonight explaining "bad socialism": NFL stadiums paid for with tax dollars for the benefit of wealthy players, coaches, owners, and fans.

While I agree with the sentiment of the OP, I think a better tactic is to stress how much bullshit the Republican line is.

For instance, they were throwing around the word "socialism" during Obama's term when the top marginal income tax rate was raised from 35% to 39.6%. They're doing it now with AOC suggesting a 70% top rate.

Lost in the noise is the fact that out of 107 years of the income tax, 50 of them had top marginal rates of 70% or more. For 20 of those years it was over 90%. Even for years at or over 50%, add another 13 to that 50, for 63 yeas, nearly 60% of the total years, including 6 of Reagan's 8 years in office.

But to conservatives we were "socialist" for all but the last handful of years of the Cold War.

...how Republicans call everything they don't like "socialism", and then they talk like everything "socialist" is a Warsaw Pact police state.

How in one breath they talk about the Free World we used to be leaders of, and in the next decry "European socialism", practiced by the very same countries.

It's a shell game, a 3-card monte game, and their board needs to be flipped over.
