7. The 3 Democrats in Virginia and Sen. Warren---

all convicted without trial right here on DU by a few posters, some of whom also showed up on the Al Franken accusations with the same routine.

14. Perry being a racist asshole is good for me.

Texas has 8 million unregistered voters - the vast majority of whom are minorities.

I would like to register all of them. (I live in Texas).

And once they register, I would like them to vote.

And then vote I want them to think the former Republican governor thought that name was fine.

The executive branch of Virginia being filled with racist assholes is bad for me. Because in 2020, I need Virginia Beach, Hampton Roads, and Richmond to turn out in full fucking force. Having Amos and Andy doing robo-calls is probably not the way to get this done.

6. I don't see the nexus

I wouldn't vote for Rick Perry or any Rethug even if someone stuck a stick of dynamite up my rectum with a timer and told me it would go off I didn't.

Women , POC, glbtq people, et cetera give the lion's share of their votes to Democrats because they believe they have their best interest at heart and will never disrespect them.

17. I joined Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren

I joined Chuck Schumer, Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, and the majority of Senate Democrats calling for his resignation:

8. Rick Perry was the longest serving Gov. in Texas history. As a native Texan it disgusts me

that so many of my fellow Texans tolerate these racists who love to spout their "conservative" and Jesus loving ideology. White privilege seems to supercede anything else in Texas - they love to say otherwise but the facts speak for themselves.

9. The difference is he is a Republican...

...and much of his base is fine with that.

After all, we do have a wife-cheating, pu**y-grabbing, possible child rapist serving as our president...

10. When I was a very young child, that name was used for a plant in Florida.

I just called it the plant, it wasn't right to call that name. Ivory Soap tastes awful and that's what you got for using that word.

Hasn't changed; I just read this and taste Ivory!

18. I didn't know that Republican politicians were answerable to the Democratic Party.

Republicans (which Northam was until 2007) have the lion's share of racists in their party. Democrats typically do not vote for people they know to be racist, misogynistic, or traitorous. We also tend to not support people if we find out they participated in racist activities and never acknowledged that fact and made appropriate amends.

We do not control who Republicans support so while there was an uproar and many calls for Perry to resign among the Democratic Party, there was not any official thing that Democrats could do to make Perry resign.

Basically, your point seems irrelevant given that Perry is not a Democrat. Had he been a Democrat, he would not have survived any primary or general election with the knowledge the his family ranch maintained that racist title.

19. Interesting how much of Perry's political career traces to a racist remark

by an incumbent Democratic politician. IIRC, Ag Comm Brown(?) made a
racist "joke" to a group of reporters on the record while in a primary campaign.
Immediate news. He loses to an opponent who wanted to modernize the Ag Dept.
and was far behind in the campaign - one Jim Hightower, who becomes Ag Comm. Years
later Repugs don't like "urban" Ag Comm and run a "six pack" of candidates in
their primary. A little known state rep(?) wins and goes on to be elected Ag Comm -
one Rick Perry.
