(6,384 posts)...money is worthless if the government falls. Confederate States of America dollars are worth collectors value, and good luck trying to use it to purchase anything.
Money is a medium of exchange and backed by the promise of its backer. Hence why corrupt governments have currency that sink in value.
A more appropriate response would be, "greed of wealth is the root of all evil". To obtain more wealth, someone else has to suffer.

(16,834 posts)We in the U.S. have found out that if you want to get nothing done, all you have to do is keep two fairly equal sides at odds with each other and you'll have all the stability you can stand. It looks like one side is getting the upper hand now, though. Right-Wingers are making themselves more intolerable here every day, so we might just see a new alignment form in the next few elections. It's about time for the axis to swing just like it did in 1980 and in 1932. We'll see if it lasts another 40 or 50 years.
