This Republican Governor was NOT popular here in New Mexico, at least not during most of her last two years in office. Her poll numbers were awful, and we could not wait to get rid of her. She and the Liar in Chief were the main reasons that Democrats had such amazing results in November. Every state office is blue. In addition Democrats have majorities in both legislative bodies here in the state. This story about the Squash Blossom necklace is so typical of so many Republicans. Unethical and greedy.

I do not comment often, but I very much enjoy reading these comments and being in the comfortable environment of like minded, thinking people.

Legalizing recreational marijuana will attract FAR more tourists to New Mexico, with all our already interesting attractions and create a massive amount of tax-dollars to educate our children.

Some people I've talked to are optimistic. Some online media articles are less than optimistic.

Roswell, New Mexico just premiered on TV; and those scrawny museums could become seriously profitable with slight renovation. How about the museum of nuclear science, here in Albuquerque? Have you ever seen the NASA wide-array radio telescope in southern New Mexico? MANY of these attractions, plus snow-skiing, resort hotels and legal gambling - combined with marijuana - become International resorts.

BTW, Texans, NM just tapped into the very same oil field that provides resources for your red state! Don't fret, Texas: Come to New Mexico and let your worries go up in smoke! LOL!

7. Who voted her most popular Republican Governor?

Not the good citizens of New Mexico, that's for sure.

The only reason she won her first term was that the Democratic nominee was Diane Denish, who'd been Bill Richardson's Lt Governor, and he ended is term so very unpopular that a lot of voters turned against Denish. Unfairly, but they did. Then in 2014, when Martinez was running for re-election, the Democrats had five candidates in the primary, and it was won (with 35% of the vote) b-y Gary King, son of a former Governor, because of who his father was. He does not seem to have campaigned very much, and what little he did was completely ineffective, so Martinez won re-election.

Susana Martinez was not very popular in her first term, and was extremely unpopular in her second. She had no idea how to work across the aisle, and when she vetoed bills without putting in writing why, as required in this state, Democrats sued and several (maybe all, I'm forgetting all the details) of the bills she'd vetoed became law anyway.

Then there was New Mexico's version of pizzagate which involved a party she attended at a local hotel, guests throwing bottles from a high (for this city) floor, and Martinez trying to get police officers to back off from evicting the noisy guests. Plus she was demanding to know who'd called in the complaints and on the recordings sounds somewhat less than sober. In many ways it was a trivial story (Governor attends party where guests get rowdy) but her clumsy attempt to get special treatment completely backfired and destroyed any hope she had of a political future.

By the time she left office her approval rating was 37%. So if she's the most popular Republican Governor, I shudder to think how low the popularity of the least must be.

All other Republican governors - in the USA - voted Susana "Most Popular" at their convention of crooks, because she was good-looking, before she got fat!

"Pizzagate" LOL
