Why did the Senate vote to lift sanctions on Derispaska?

Is it just me or does it seem that the White House was very involved in this vote?

Did the Senate vote to protect the interests of Donald Trump or to protect the interests of the United States?

The vote was indicative of how much Trump controls the Republican Party and how much they feel they need to protect him?

It's going to be very difficult to get 60 votes in this Senate.

They had time to vote on that but not the issues concerning the shutdown. The shutdown is not their priority.

The GOP vote on RW judges and took the pass weekend off with pay.

Mnuchin is a key component in this and put this forward to ease the sanctions and of course Mitch was all for it. To protect those who support Putin's oligarch who gave them blood money especially McConnell.

We have traitors in our midst and they must be eradicated.

They did this totally wittingly. They are protecting and enriching the very person who helped arrange the stealing of the 2016 election.

Do the Koch brothers or any other high wealth Republicans have serious money tied up in Russia. Money planted in a spot where it would be easy for Russia to seize it? That could come about in a number of ways. Are they concerned about retaliation and their fat cat's might get tied up in it?

This is one question I don't see in your list. I think it's a stronger possibility with Senators than them voting to protect Trump.

The vote was 57-42 to stop the administration, but in Trump's America, that's not good enough to stop the Emperor from doing what he wants. If the Senate had had 60 votes, you can bet McConnell would never have allowed the matter to come to a vote, like he's stopping the Senate from considering any legislation to pass a budget and reopen the government.

Rethug constituents will pay little to no attention to Russian matters at best. At worst, the Rump's base actively supports their Russian allies. But when it comes to the shutdown that is an immediate concern to all Americans, constituents are dramatically opposed to the GOP agenda. So I think that's interesting. Half of the GOP agenda is ignored; the other half is supported (or its opposition denounced as librul lies) by RW media. What this tells me is that we need to concentrate on hanging the shutdown around the GOP at the expense of reporting on the Russia investigation. That is what will bring the administration down.
